Marketing Strategy & Planning Manager
Job Description
Key Skills Required
Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
Ashby's Marketing team is scaling pipeline generation across a multi-product portfolio (ATS, Onboarding). As our Marketing Strategy & Planning Manager, you'll be the only dedicated marketing ops hire on the team—owning the full technical and analytical foundation that lets Marketing run campaigns, measure performance, and improve efficiency with confidence.
This role sits within Revenue Operations, the horizontal function that makes the entire GTM system work, and partners in close, near-daily collaboration with the VP of Marketing and her leadership team. You'll be embedded in the day-to-day (tracking, dashboards, campaign systems) while also shaping how Marketing measures pipeline generation and CAC as we scale.
Why this role matters now
We're in an active expansion phase: new products, new segments, new channels. The person in this role will shape how Marketing operates for the next chapter of Ashby's growth.
Marketing Campaign Management and Analytics

Deliver regular reports on key marketing metrics and provide data-driven insights to optimize campaign performance
Cross-Functional Leadership and Strategy
Operate as part of the Revenue Operations organization, aligning Marketing, RevOps, and Business Systems teams around shared marketing operations priorities and company objectives
Lead technical implementation of marketing initiatives, ensuring proper setup and execution
Develop and maintain documentation for marketing operations processes and best practices
Train team members on marketing technology tools and best practices
Data Management and Compliance
Develop and implement data governance frameworks to maintain high-quality marketing data
Create and manage data segmentation strategies for targeted marketing initiatives
Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant data privacy regulations
Regularly audit marketing systems and processes to maintain data integrity and security
Marketing Technology and Systems
Act as the dedicated subject matter expert, overseeing lead management processes, automation rules
Collaborate with the Systems and Tooling team on improvements to existing tech stack
Evaluate and recommend new marketing technologies to enhance our capabilities
What We're Looking For
7+ years of experience in marketing strategy + operations, marketing strategic planning or a similar role
SQL knowledge and experience with data manipulation
Strong business acumen and understanding of marketing metrics and reporting
Advanced expertise in marketing automation tools
Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and visualization
Strong understanding of marketing automation, lead management, and campaign attribution
Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements
Nice to Have
Experience with business intelligence tools (Heap Analytics, Looker)
Project management experience
Experience with API integrations and webhook management
This role may not be a fit if:
You are most interested in the operational side of Marketing Strategy and Planning, and prefer to have hands-on systems ownership vs owning strategy and analysis
You want a team to delegate execution to—this is a hands-on, individual-contributor seat with no marketing ops team beneath you
You prefer owning one channel deeply rather than the full technical stack (tracking, automation, reporting, compliance) end to end
You do your best work when requirements are fully specified, rather than when you need to diagnose ambiguous problems and set the KPIs yourself

Ashby
View Company ProfileAshby is a highly disruptive, analytics-first Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and all-in-one recruiting CRM that is fundamentally revolutionizing how high-growth companies hire top talent. Founded in 2018 by Benjamin Encz and Abhik Pramanik (backed by Y Combinator) and headquartered in San Francisco, California, the company was built out of sheer frustration with clunky, legacy hiring platforms. Under the hood, Ashby seamlessly consolidates the entire talent acquisition tech stack—handling everything from automated outbound sourcing and AI-driven candidate screening to complex, high-volume interview scheduling and world-class pipeline analytics. Their primary target audience spans aggressive, growth-stage tech startups and massive mid-market enterprises (including industry heavyweights like Notion, Figma, and Opendoor) that desperately need to make data-driven, million-dollar hiring decisions without workflow friction. What sets Ashby apart in the fiercely competitive HR Tech landscape is its uncompromising "analytics-first" philosophy and deep AI integration across every layer of the product; they do not just track applicants, they empower recruiting teams to operate with the exact same precision, automation, and data visibility as elite performance marketing organizations.
