Customer Service Agent

Remote Recruitment is looking for a Customer Service Agent to join a UK-based business, working fully remotely from South Africa. Hours are 09:00–17:00 UK time (11:00–19:00 SAST), Monday to Friday.

Role overview

You will be the first voice and first reply customers meet. Most of the work is handling questions about orders, accounts and services by phone, email and live chat, sorting out what you can on the spot and knowing when to escalate. The team is small enough that you will be trusted to use your judgement rather than read from a script.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls, emails and live chats from UK customers
• Resolve queries about orders, deliveries, billing and account changes
• Log every interaction accurately in the CRM so colleagues can pick up where you left off
• Escalate technical or complex complaints with clear notes attached
• Follow up on open tickets until the customer confirms they are sorted
• Flag recurring problems so the wider team can fix the root cause

What you will need

• 1 or more years in a customer service, call centre or retail support role
• A clear, neutral telephone manner and confident written English
• Experience with a CRM or helpdesk system such as Zendesk, Freshdesk or HubSpot
• Patience under pressure and a genuine willingness to help
• A quiet home workspace, reliable fibre or LTE, and backup power
• Comfortable working UK hours from home
