Compensation Operations Specialist
Job Description
Key Skills Required
Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
You'll thrive here if you...
- Like being in the work. A full queue of comp questions is something to clear, not something to delegate.
- Dig into the details until you understand exactly why a number is what it is. "The AI said so" and "it looks about right" don't satisfy you.
- Use AI across everything you do: formulas, data comparisons, record lookups, drafting replies. You know where it's reliable and where you need to check it yourself.
- Own problems end to end, from diagnosis and fix through verification and the message back to the person who raised it.
- Care about the people on the other side of the ticket. A rep's commission is their paycheck.
- Get better every month: you notice patterns in your work and raise them, so the same issue doesn't keep coming back.
What You'll Do
- Work the comp question queue hands-on every day. Diagnose missing deals, target corrections, and headcount and revenue discrepancies; resolve what you can directly; route the rest to Systems, Analytics, or Accounting with evidence; and close the loop. Our Claude-assisted triage speeds up diagnosis, but you own every answer.
- Run the monthly turnover for our sales comp trackers: build each new month, refresh rosters, load targets, multipliers, and accelerator thresholds, and QA formula and roll-up integrity before managers and reps see anything. Use AI for the build and the diffs, and check payout-affecting items yourself.
- Monitor automated daily data-health alerts, investigate every warning or failure to root cause, and verify the fix after the next refresh.
- Investigate the Salesforce data issues that break comp credit (duplicate records, wiped dates, miscoded fields), using AI and SQL to speed up the digging. File and track system tickets, and keep a log of defect patterns.
- Apply mid-month roster changes (prorated targets for exits, transfers, promotions, leave returns, and time off) according to our documented policies, and double-check each one.
- Keep our rep self-serve tools current, including the payout calculators and deal-status lookup and chatbot. Flag where the AI tools get answers wrong so we can fix them.
What You've Done
- Qualified candidates usually bring 2+ years in a recurring, accuracy-critical operations role: commissions or incentive ops, payroll, billing or revenue ops, finance ops, or similar reconciliation-heavy work.
- Owned a high-volume request queue or ticket intake with internal customers and a response-time expectation.
- Used AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or similar) as a regular part of day-to-day work: analysis, formulas, lookups, drafting. You don't need to have built automations.
- Worked hands-on in large, formula-heavy spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel) and debugged someone else's model.
- Reconciled data between a CRM or system of record (Salesforce, NetSuite, HubSpot, or similar) and a downstream report, and explained the gap.
- Worked remotely with teams in a different time zone, communicating primarily in writing.
What Sets You Apart
- Direct experience administering sales commissions or variable pay plans.
- You've built a simple AI workflow or automation (a custom GPT or Claude Project, or an Apps Script or Zapier flow) that cut down a repetitive task.
- SQL (or AI-assisted SQL) against a data warehouse.
- You've written or rewritten an SOP that other people now follow.
Technology
Claude (primary AI tool, including connectors to Salesforce, Redshift, Slack, and Google Drive), Google Sheets and Apps Script, Salesforce, SQL/Redshift, Sigma (BI), Slack, and Rippling.

Brightwheel
View Company ProfileBrightwheel (operating under mybrightwheel.com, legally DSSV, Inc.) is the premier, enterprise-grade early childhood education operating system, child care marketplace pioneer, and vertical software automation powerhouse engineered to serve as the definitive, high-velocity administration, automated billing, and parent engagement layer for preschools, daycare centers, and camps across North America. Founded by technology visionary Dave Vasen, the platform completely eliminates the severe operational friction of early childhood administration—where small business operators, educators, and working families lose critical time, suffer from fractured multi-agency subsidy tracking, and endure fragmented parent communication due to outdated paper forms and siloed legacy systems—by deploying an advanced, all-in-one SaaS management matrix. Moving far beyond traditional, passive student rosters or generic business billing tools, Brightwheel natively unifies contactless digital check-in mechanics, real-time staff-to-child room ratio compliance tracking, automated paperless tuition billing pipelines, and customized developmental milestone recording into a high-availability mobile ecosystem. Trusted by tens of thousands of early educators and millions of families, the infrastructure stands as the category-defining software standard for the $100 billion early education market. Historically recognized for its famous early venture validation on Shark Tank, the company has scaled into an industry giant valued at over $720 million. The platform is backed by more than $270 million in elite institutional venture capital across strategic growth executions—led by Addition and 9yards Capital alongside heavy participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, GGV Capital, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Emerson Collective, Eniac Ventures, and Lowercase Capital. Under the hood, its technology core utilizes high-throughput payment processing gateways, secure real-time photo and video sharing pipelines, and strict data privacy safeguards built to protect sensitive student records and automate complex CACFP compliance logs without reducing daily operational velocity. What sets Brightwheel apart is its uncompromising dedication to replacing administrative overhead with absolute billing predictability, verified regulatory compliance transparency, and enhanced educator agility; by bridging the gap between performance-intensive enterprise mobile architectures and the vital, high-touch demands of daily early childhood classrooms, the organization remains the definitive cornerstone of modern algorithmic education technology and global childcare business transformation.
