Senior Security Engineer at Cohere

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and partner teams, clearly articulating business risks associated with security issues.
• Lead security operations, including vulnerability management, SAST (Static Application Security Testing), DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing), detection engineering, and incident response in CI/CD and cloud-native production environments.
• Integrate security into applications throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Collaborate with product and development teams to ensure secure software deployment without compromising agility or speed.
• Drive and support a bug bounty program, application security reviews, and threat modeling, including code review and dynamic testing.
• Assess and integrate security tools to automate and scale security processes, evaluating open-source vs. vendor solutions.
• Gather and analyze security metrics to address issues with cross-team dependencies.
• Solve problems with empathy for developer concerns, employing a constructive and flexible approach to build innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Application/Product Security or Security Operations, with a focus on security tool onboarding and optimization.
• Understanding of vulnerability management, network security, cloud security, and industry best practices.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make informed decisions with limited data.
• Flexible and constructive problem-solving approach.
• Ability to make trade-offs between build vs. buy decisions, helping to build solutions and review available tools.
• Deep technical understanding of common security vulnerabilities, risks, and countermeasures.
• Hands-on security engineer interested in automating controls.
