The role of Senior Manager Accountant involves overseeing a Philippines-based bookkeeping team and providing high-level review, guidance, and support across an assigned portfolio of clients. This is a senior leadership position suited for an experienced accounting professional who can act as the reviewer and general manager of the bookkeeping function.
The ideal candidate will have strong Australian tax and accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and proven experience managing or supervising an accounting or bookkeeping team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and provide day-to-day leadership and support to the Philippines-based bookkeeping team.
- Review bookkeeping work across the relevant client portfolio to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with required standards.
- Conduct quarterly balance sheet reviews, identify issues or discrepancies, and provide constructive feedback to bookkeepers.
- Ensure bookkeeping deadlines and deliverables are clearly communicated, tracked, and met.
- Provide technical guidance and higher-level accounting support to the bookkeeping team when complex issues arise.
- Monitor the overall quality and consistency of work delivered across the client portfolio.
- Act as a senior escalation point for accounting and bookkeeping matters.
- Communicate directly with clients, providing clear updates, addressing queries, and building strong professional relationships.
- Support the development and performance of bookkeepers through coaching, feedback, and ongoing guidance.
- Use Xero and Excel regularly for review, analysis, reporting, and team oversight.
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes, workflows, and quality standards.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Australian accounting and tax requirements relevant to the client portfolio.
Requirements:
- At least 4 years of experience in a Senior Accounting or bookkeeping management role, including overseeing and reviewing the work of a bookkeeping team.
- CPA qualification required, Philippine CPA qualification is acceptable.
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation, with experience supporting Australian clients preferred.
- Proficiency in Xero and Excel, with experience reviewing financial records, balance sheets, and financial reporting.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple client portfolios, communicate deadlines, provide feedback, and maintain high-quality standards across the team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in a client-facing role and the ability to provide clear, professional accounting support to clients.
