Core Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer with 5+ years of experience, architectural expertise, and a passion for AI-driven development to join our Mobile Engineering team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and will:
- Design, build, and maintain native Android applications in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, ensuring polished, scalable experiences for global players and developers.
- Ship high-quality features from concept to launch, owning the full Android release process—including signing, App Bundles, Play Console tracks, staged rollouts, and crash/ANR triage.
- Implement best practices for code review, automated testing (JUnit, Compose UI tests, Espresso, Robolectric), and CI/CD (Gradle, Fastlane).
- Integrate mini-apps, payments, and virtual currency systems into the Xsolla App ecosystem.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, backend, QA, and project management teams in a distributed, multi-timezone setting.
Architecture & Design
Lead scalable Android architecture with a focus on maintainability, performance, and developer experience, including:
- Modularization, dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger), navigation, and state management (MVVM, MVI, unidirectional data flow).
- Optimizing Gradle builds (convention plugins, version catalogs, build caching, configuration cache).
- Building and maintaining an internal Compose component library and design system.
- Enforcing coding standards, design patterns, and best practices across the team.
- Partnering with iOS and React Native engineers to align shared APIs, design tokens, feature flags, and analytics.
- Driving observability (structured logging, crash monitoring, performance tracing, release health dashboards).
AI-First Engineering
Leverage AI coding agents as a core workflow multiplier:
- Scope tasks for AI agents, critically review AI-generated code, and build tooling to enhance team velocity.
- Design evaluation guardrails for AI features (prompt regression testing, fallback behavior, production failure handling).
- Mentor engineers on AI-assisted development and set quality-preserving standards.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- 5+ years of Android development with hands-on Kotlin expertise.
- Proven track record shipping commercial Android apps to Google Play.
- Mastery of modern Android frameworks: Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, Lifecycle, Room, WorkManager, Navigation.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and performance profiling (Android Studio Profiler, Macrobenchmark).
- Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Daily use of AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) to accelerate production work.
- Experience with third-party integrations, REST/GraphQL APIs, and mobile SDKs.
Nice to Have:
- App widgets, deep linking, FCM push notifications, or background work at scale.
- Kotlin Multiplatform or bridging Kotlin to React Native.
- Google Play Billing, gaming ecosystems, or virtual currency platforms.
- Mobile security practices (secure storage, certificate pinning, obfuscation).
