You will match what the bank says against what the ledger says, and chase every difference until it is explained. It suits someone patient with detail who finds a clean, balanced reconciliation quietly satisfying.
You will work 09:00-17:00 UK time (11:00-19:00 SAST) from home, with equipment guidance, a proper induction, and a manager who is contactable throughout the day. This is a permanent role, not a short contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Investigate unmatched items and resolve them at source
- Reconcile supplier and customer statements to the ledger
- Post correcting journals with clear supporting notes
- Flag recurring mismatches to the finance manager
- Support month-end close with complete, tidy working papers
What You'll Need
- 1+ years in a reconciliations, bookkeeping, or finance clerk role
- Experience with an accounting system such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
- Confident with Excel lookups, filters, and pivot tables
- A methodical approach and persistence to close out differences
- Reliable home internet and a quiet space for UK-hours work
Nice to Have
- Exposure to multi-currency reconciliations
- Experience with high-volume transaction environments
- Familiarity with UK VAT basics
