Code Metal is the leader in automated software engineering, specializing in AI-driven code verification with provably correct outputs. Their platform helps customers like the U.S. Air Force, L3Harris, RTX, and Toshiba modernize legacy code, optimize performance, and accelerate prototypes to production. Founded in 2023, Code Metal is backed by Accel, Salesforce Ventures, B Capital, Smith Point Capital, J2 Ventures, Shield Capital, Overmatch, and RTX.
About the Role:
Code Metal’s forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) solve complex problems in secure customer programs daily, inventing tools and pipelines that enhance the platform’s speed and reliability. This role focuses on capturing that innovation and transforming it into commercial products that customer engineers can use independently to automate software engineering with trust.
You will:
- Own the developer experience, ensuring engineers can build, translate, verify, and review agent work with FDEs as customer zero.
- Standardize successful FDE workflows into repeatable interfaces, templates, and guided flows.
- Develop a reliable feedback loop from air-gapped and secure deployments to improve product offerings.
- Surface auditable proof and lifecycle artifacts to ensure trust and compliance.
- Validate with 3–5 commercial engineering teams before broad launch, measuring adoption and ROI.
Reporting to the SVP, Head of Product, this is a builder’s role requiring strategy, team-building, and shipping the first version alongside the team.
Location: Remote (U.S.), with 25% travel.
Responsibilities:
Field-to-product engine: Consolidate and standardize FDE tools and pipelines, capturing repeatable patterns for commercial products.
Feedback from secure environments: Build a reliable mechanism to incorporate product improvements from secure deployments.
Developer experience: Strategize and roadmap interfaces for building, translating, verifying, and reviewing agent work.
Repeatable results: Turn proven FDE workflows into interfaces, templates, and guided flows for consistent outcomes.
Trust and compliance: Ensure lifecycle artifacts and auditable proof are surfaced in the review workflow.
Design partners and value: Validate with 3–5 commercial teams before launch, tracking adoption and ROI metrics.
Product storytelling: Create demos, videos, and presentations, collaborating with Sales and Growth on launches.
Team: Hire, onboard, and mentor product managers and designers.
What Success Looks Like in Six Months:
- FDE tooling consolidated into a single, instrumented internal release used daily.
- A working feedback path from secure environments to the core product.
- A measurable reduction in custom code per project.
- New team members hired, onboarded, and shipping.
- 3–5 commercial/enterprise/government design partners actively using Code Metal tools in a self-service manner.
- A first commercial release with adoption and value metrics in place.
Requirements:
- 10+ years in product, technical consulting, or solutions leadership.
- Track record of building tools that accelerate delivery teams and converting services into commercial products.
- Ownership of P&L or revenue for a product line.
- Hands-on expertise in agentic developer tools and AI-assisted SDLC, including enterprise adoption.
- Ability to simplify complexity and deliver elegant product solutions.
- Product judgment to distinguish between one-off requests and repeatable needs.
- Quick ramp-up into deep technical domains and credibility with engineers.
- Strong writing and presentation skills for executives, engineers, and customers.
- Eligibility for a U.S. security clearance if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Consulting or professional services experience, especially building products alongside delivery teams.
- Experience creating products for developers, engineers, or highly technical users.
- Exposure to government, defense, or regulated environments.
- Public contributions to AI adoption, agentic engineering, or software strategy.
- Experience mentoring product managers and building teams from scratch.
