About the Role:

Code Metal is hiring a Senior Product Manager to drive product strategy and execution for a core outcome area, focusing on translating, modernizing, prototyping, or porting code across languages (C++, Rust, Python, CUDA, MATLAB) and hardware targets. The role involves collaborating with customers, engineers, and solutions engineering to solve real-world problems in industries like automotive, aerospace, semiconductors, and defense.

The charter will cover a subset of pipelines and customer scenarios, tailored to your background and interests, with room to expand into adjacent areas over time. This is a growth role where you’ll start with a defined scope and gradually increase responsibility based on technical depth and organizational credibility.

The role is highly collaborative, with Product, Engineering, UX, and Growth operating as peers throughout discovery, planning, and execution.

Core Responsibilities:

• Own the roadmap for your outcome area from discovery to delivery, translating customer pain into prioritized product decisions.

• Conduct customer discovery with technical stakeholders, including engineers, architects, tech leads, and solutions engineering.

• Rapidly ramp into unfamiliar technical domains (e.g., language semantics, toolchains, hardware constraints) and synthesize insights into clear product direction.

• Collaborate with Engineering to understand technical tradeoffs, shape implementation approaches, and make informed prioritization decisions.

• Build and maintain a smaller roadmap that integrates into the broader platform roadmap.

• Write clear PRDs (Product Requirements Documents) to turn ambiguity into a specific plan.

• Make ruthless tradeoffs between customer value, technical complexity, and speed.

• Represent your outcome area in cross-functional and customer-facing conversations, communicating decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Expand your charter over time by taking on adjacent pipelines and scenarios as you demonstrate expertise.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience owning software products from discovery through launch in a technical B2B, enterprise, or platform environment.

• 5+ years of Product Management experience building technical software products.

• Ability to rapidly learn new industries, technologies, and customer domains without prior expertise.

• Strong customer discovery and user research skills, translating insights into roadmap decisions.

• Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where priorities evolve.

• Comfortable engaging with technical concepts like language semantics, toolchains, or hardware constraints.

• Demonstrated MVP thinking—scoping the smallest valuable slice of a problem.

• Self-awareness about the edges of your expertise and a track record of quickly learning new technical domains.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills across executive, technical, and customer audiences.

• Ability to pass a standard background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building developer tools, platform products, compilers, or embedded systems.

• Experience working directly with highly technical customers, engineers, and domain experts.

• Prior exposure to automotive, kernel development, aerospace, semiconductor, or regulated/safety-critical industries.

• Experience bringing new products from concept through launch in early-stage or high-growth environments.
