Virta Health is on a mission to transform type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care. Current treatment approaches aren't working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse their metabolic condition through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives.

The Product Analytics team harnesses data to shape decisions across Virta. In this role you'll sit on Product Analytics and partner closely with our Client Group, turning messy, cross-system billing data into accurate, trustworthy answers that keep our client relationships running smoothly.

Role Overview

As a Data Analyst supporting the Client Group, you'll own the data work behind accurate, reliable client billing. You'll start with a focused mandate: reconciling billing data across internal systems, investigating and resolving discrepancies, and building the checks and documentation that make billing accuracy repeatable and durable. As that foundation takes hold, your scope will grow into ongoing work reducing client billing friction—streamlining processes, improving data flows, and proactively surfacing issues before they reach a client. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who is energized by getting numbers to tie out and by making a genuinely complex data landscape simpler.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile and validate client billing data across multiple internal systems, investigating and resolving discrepancies to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Build repeatable data-quality checks, reconciliations, and documentation that strengthen billing processes and controls.
  • Partner directly with the Client Group to support timely, accurate client billing and to answer their most pressing data questions.
  • Develop and maintain reporting, dashboards, and analyses that surface billing trends, risks, and anomalies.
  • Over time, drive down client billing friction through process improvement, better data flows, and automation.
  • Collaborate across Product Analytics, the Client Group, Finance, and Engineering to understand data sources and improve the systems that feed billing.
  • Operate within an agile framework, prioritizing effectively as needs and priorities shift.

Must-Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in an analytics, data, or finance-operations role.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, large-dataset manipulation, reconciliation).
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working with relational databases.
  • Demonstrated experience reconciling data across systems and investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high bar for data accuracy.
  • Ability to navigate imperfect data and adjust to a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Clear communicator who can work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with healthcare data (medical or pharmacy claims, accounts receivable).
  • Familiarity with billing, revenue operations, or accounts-receivable processes.
  • Experience building reporting or dashboards in a BI tool such as Looker or Tableau.
  • Exposure to Google BigQuery, dbt, or similar data-warehouse tooling.
  • Python or scripting experience (a plus, not a requirement).
  • Understanding of data governance, data-quality frameworks, or internal controls.

Values-driven culture

Virta's company values drive our culture, so you'll do well if:

  • You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally
  • You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same
  • You prioritize positive impact over busy work
  • You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience
  • You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information
  • You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma
  • You take risks and rapidly iterate

Virta Health (operating under virtahealth.com, legally Virta Health, Inc.) is the premier, enterprise-grade technology-enabled virtual medical clinic, metabolic health pioneer, and chronic disease reversal powerhouse engineered to act as the definitive, high-velocity type 2 diabetes reversal, sustainable weight loss, and provider-led care management layer for commercial employers, health plans, and government benefits programs across all 50 U.S. states. Founded by serial tech entrepreneur Sami Inkinen (co-founder of Trulia) alongside world-renowned metabolic research physicians Dr. Stephen Phinney and Dr. Jeff Volek, the company completely eliminates the severe systemic friction of modern metabolic care—where legacy healthcare models merely focus on treating symptoms, locking patients into lifelong dependencies on expensive pharmaceuticals, and draining enterprise budgets on escalating GLP-1 medications and insulin therapies—by deploying a sophisticated, evidence-based nutrition-first operating matrix. Moving far beyond traditional, passive telehealth consultation portals or generic weight-loss apps, Virta natively unifies continuous remote medical oversight from licensed specialists, personalized biomarker-driven carbohydrate restriction coaching, automated cellular-connected health monitoring devices (including smart scales and continuous blood glucose/ketone meters), and clinical medication deprescribing pipelines into a single high-availability population health platform. Backed by peer-reviewed clinical data demonstrating that its individualized, fat-fueled metabolic training drives a 22% reduction in HbA1c levels alongside the elimination of over 84% of required insulin dosages for compliant cohorts, the firm transforms enterprise healthcare spend with complete outcomes-based financial guarantees. Valued as an elite industry unicorn at $2 billion and generating over $160 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), the organization is supported by more than $370 million in elite institutional venture capital—anchored by monumental financing matrices from Tiger Global Management, D1 Capital Partners, Venrock, Founders Fund, and Creandum. Under the hood, its technology core utilizes advanced predictive risk stratification algorithms, real-time biomarker analytics engines, and secure HIPAA-compliant cross-platform synchronization pipelines built to safely transition high-risk members off hazardous pharmaceutical dependencies without losing field operational velocity. What sets Virta Health apart is its uncompromising dedication to replacing passive chronic disease management with absolute metabolic reversal predictability, peer-reviewed clinical validation, and pharmaceutical cost-containment velocity; by bridging the gap between performance-intensive structural data analytics and immediate frontline human wellness, the enterprise remains the category-defining cornerstone of modern algorithmic digital therapeutics and global healthcare transformation.
