Virta Health is on a mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people. Current treatment approaches arenāt workingāover half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse their metabolic condition through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives.
As a Senior Software Engineer on ReCon (Revenue & Contracts), you'll build the systems that turn care delivered into revenue recognized. ReCon owns Virta's quote-to-cash path end to end: how customer contracts and pricing are configured, how clinical events become billable episodes of care, how subscriptions and invoices are generated, how claims reach payors, and how we prove all of it reconciles across commercial, billing, and our clinical data. National health plans, PBMs, and large employers depend on the data we produce not just to pay us, but to bill their own clients ā so correctness here is a customer-facing product, not back-office plumbing.
Responsibilities
Lead projects end to end: take an ambiguous problem from a finance, RCM, or client-facing stakeholder, shape it into a design, drive it through review, and own it in production.
Build and extend the Go services behind Virta's quote-to-cash path ā contract and pricing configuration, billable event generation, subscription and invoice management, and claims submission.
Make billing correctness provable. Expand the assertion and reconciliation framework that catches discrepancies across Salesforce, Zuora, and our clinical data before they ever reach a customer invoice.
Improve the reconciliation and billing data our health plan and employer partners depend on ā not just to pay us, but to bill their own clients.
Design self-service tools so finance, RCM, and client operations can configure contracts, correct data, and run bulk changes without an engineer in the loop.
Apply AI where it earns its place.
Raise the bar around you through design and code review, and mentor engineers on the team.
90 Day Plan
Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:
First 30 days: Production PR merged and deployed; can whiteboard the money path unprompted; has independently found at least one thing that's wrong.
60 days: A Test-Driven Development (TDD) survived architecture review; Stakeholders start to recognize you and work on building a future-looking feature/project with you.
90 days: Owns an ambiguous problem and proceeds towards completion with a product mindset; another engineerās design got better because of your review.
Must-Haves
5+ years building and operating backend services in production, in Go or another statically typed language.
Experience with event-driven architectures and the failure modes that come with them ā eventual consistency, ordering, idempotency, and systems that disagree with each other.
Strong SQL, and comfort working across both application code and the analytics layer.
You've owned a system where correctness had consequences outside the company ā billing, payments, claims, ledgers, or regulated reporting.
A track record of working directly with non-engineering stakeholders: turning a finance or operations problem into a design, and explaining the tradeoffs back.
Experience with a major cloud platform (Google Cloud Platform (GCP)).
Working with AI to accelerate development workflows and enhance the SDLC.
Experience in frontend development with React and TypeScript.
Values-Driven Culture
Virtaās company values drive our culture, so youāll do well if:
You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally.
You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same.
You prioritize positive impact over busy work.
You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience.
You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information.
You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma.
You take risks and rapidly iterate.

Virta Health
View Company ProfileVirta Health (operating under virtahealth.com, legally Virta Health, Inc.) is the premier, enterprise-grade technology-enabled virtual medical clinic, metabolic health pioneer, and chronic disease reversal powerhouse engineered to act as the definitive, high-velocity type 2 diabetes reversal, sustainable weight loss, and provider-led care management layer for commercial employers, health plans, and government benefits programs across all 50 U.S. states. Founded by serial tech entrepreneur Sami Inkinen (co-founder of Trulia) alongside world-renowned metabolic research physicians Dr. Stephen Phinney and Dr. Jeff Volek, the company completely eliminates the severe systemic friction of modern metabolic careāwhere legacy healthcare models merely focus on treating symptoms, locking patients into lifelong dependencies on expensive pharmaceuticals, and draining enterprise budgets on escalating GLP-1 medications and insulin therapiesāby deploying a sophisticated, evidence-based nutrition-first operating matrix. Moving far beyond traditional, passive telehealth consultation portals or generic weight-loss apps, Virta natively unifies continuous remote medical oversight from licensed specialists, personalized biomarker-driven carbohydrate restriction coaching, automated cellular-connected health monitoring devices (including smart scales and continuous blood glucose/ketone meters), and clinical medication deprescribing pipelines into a single high-availability population health platform. Backed by peer-reviewed clinical data demonstrating that its individualized, fat-fueled metabolic training drives a 22% reduction in HbA1c levels alongside the elimination of over 84% of required insulin dosages for compliant cohorts, the firm transforms enterprise healthcare spend with complete outcomes-based financial guarantees. Valued as an elite industry unicorn at $2 billion and generating over $160 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), the organization is supported by more than $370 million in elite institutional venture capitalāanchored by monumental financing matrices from Tiger Global Management, D1 Capital Partners, Venrock, Founders Fund, and Creandum. Under the hood, its technology core utilizes advanced predictive risk stratification algorithms, real-time biomarker analytics engines, and secure HIPAA-compliant cross-platform synchronization pipelines built to safely transition high-risk members off hazardous pharmaceutical dependencies without losing field operational velocity. What sets Virta Health apart is its uncompromising dedication to replacing passive chronic disease management with absolute metabolic reversal predictability, peer-reviewed clinical validation, and pharmaceutical cost-containment velocity; by bridging the gap between performance-intensive structural data analytics and immediate frontline human wellness, the enterprise remains the category-defining cornerstone of modern algorithmic digital therapeutics and global healthcare transformation.
