Subject Matter Expert Director for APAC
Job Description
Do you bring an industry background within Precision Medicine, Healthcare Software or Genomic/Clinical Diagnostics? Have you led regional technical sales teams through periods of developing growth and bring a track record of entering new territories in APAC?
If this sounds like you and you are driven by purpose, join the SOPHiA GENETICS APAC Sales Team as Subject Matter Expert Director for APAC, and enable us to make a positive impact on the outcomes for cancer and rare disease patients worldwide. This position is based in Singapore.
Our mission
We believe there is a smarter, more data-driven way to make decisions in healthcare and our cloud-native AI-powered SOPHiA DDM Platform makes that vision a reality on a daily basis. You will have direct input to our mission to democratize data-driven medicine for the ultimate benefit of cancer and rare disease patients across the globe.
Your mission
You will lead and develop the team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Implementation Scientists, and Field Application Scientists supporting the region, while bringing deep technical and scientific expertise in SOPHiA GENETICS' Products and Applications across the Genomics & NGS Workflow — with growing exposure as we pioneer into multi-modal data.
Alongside your management responsibilities, you will personally own a portfolio of accounts across Southeast Asia, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, acting as the senior technical expert for these markets.
Your responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the team of Subject Matter Experts, Implementation Scientists, and Field Application Scientists across APAC, including coaching, performance management, career development, and resourcing decisions.
- Define and drive technology strategy for the APAC region, ensuring technical positioning, messaging, and platform expertise are aligned across markets and accounts.
- Personally own accounts in Southeast Asia, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan as the senior technical expert, partnering closely with Sales Executives across the full sales cycle — from initial engagement through expansion and renewal.
- Partner with Sales Executives and Customer Success Managers as the senior product technical expert to support, drive, and close sales opportunities across the assigned territory.
- Deliver platform demonstrations and in-depth presentations to customers, and represent SOPHiA GENETICS at trade shows, vendor events, and technical/promotional seminars.
- Maintain expert knowledge across the full range of SOPHiA GENETICS products and applications, including AI SaaS solutions for NGS biomarker management, interpretation, and laboratory preparation.
- Serve as the regional voice of the customer into Product Management and Commercial leadership — synthesizing clinical and commercial insight to influence roadmap priorities, competitive intelligence, and product development.
- Contribute technical and clinical insight to account planning, informing stakeholder mapping, whitespace identification, and competitive positioning across the strategic account portfolio.
Requirements
To be best established for success in this role, you will bring:
- A M.Sc or Ph.D in a relevant field such as Genetics, Molecular Biology, Oncology, or similar.
- 5+ years of experience in a field-facing technical commercial role within genomics, NGS, or clinical diagnostics — ideally as a Senior SME, Senior Field Application Scientist, Clinical Sales Specialist, or equivalent.
- Proven people management experience, having directly led, coached, and developed a team of technical or field-facing professionals.
- Demonstrated experience supporting and growing strategic or key accounts in the APAC healthcare or life sciences sector, working alongside commercial account leads.
- Deep working knowledge of NGS workflows, clinical variant interpretation, and AI/SaaS-based genomic platforms.
- Strong ability to shape and communicate technology strategy across a diverse, multi-market region.
- Comfort translating complex technical vocabulary into simple terminology, with the ability to communicate effectively across both commercial and technical stakeholders.
- As a public organization facing ongoing commercial growth, you will bring a success-oriented and solutions-focused mindset that embraces team collaborations, change, growth, and inclusion.
As an international organization, English is our primary business language and you will need to bring full fluency in English.
