Junior Underwriter

What You’ll Do:

• Manage a variety of support and follow-up items with the goal of keeping business flowing efficiently
• Work closely with Customer Operations to answer underwriting-related questions
• Perform line underwriting on individual term life cases, evaluating medical and personal history on applications up to $1 million face amount
• Analyze medical, personal, and financial data from both traditional and innovative data sources to make final decisions
• Manage varying volumes of application review within set quality standards and turnaround times
• Work closely with a peer mentor as part of your continued development as a proficient life underwriter
• Report to the Underwriting Manager

Experience Required:

• 5+ years of life insurance industry experience at a leading carrier or reinsurer
• Acted as a support resource for life underwriters or undergone training to be a life underwriter
• Worked in new business workflows
• Managed follow-ups of underwriting requirements
• Learned the life cycle of an application and basic processing standards
• Demonstrated interest in being part of a collaborative team to better serve customers
