Blue Star Families is the largest nonprofit dedicated to making military life better for families, supporting over 1.5 million military- and veteran-connected family members annually through a network of 300,000+ members and local chapters across the U.S.

Our mission is to make military life awesome for families. We deliver evidence-based, data-driven solutions that address real challenges like frequent relocations, deployments, career disruptions, and isolation. Our approach is collaborative, human-centered, and designed with the whole family in mind.

A Blue Star Family includes an immediate family member—spouse, parent, or child—serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the Guard and Reserves. We respond with research-informed programs that create connection, build resilience, and foster belonging.

We serve with urgency but build trust over time—because change happens at the speed of trust. Our work spans spouse employment support, caregiver programs, and community initiatives to welcome military families.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Bold thinkers, fast movers, and smart collaborators who want to build, lead, and drive measurable change—and care deeply about making an impact.

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Solve complex challenges with data, heart, and humility
  • Build cross-sector partnerships that get things done
  • Help military families feel at home wherever they live

As a fully remote organization, we rely on scheduled in-person gatherings for alignment, collaboration, and culture. This role requires travel out of town overnight several times per year for staff offsites, planning retreats, and company-wide events. Participation is required.

General Description:

The Strategic Partnerships Coordinator will work directly under the Senior Manager, Strategic Alliances and White Oak Collaborative, providing coordination, research, project management, and administrative support across Blue Star Families’ Strategic Alliances portfolio, including national-level Strategic Partnerships, the White Oak Collaborative, and the Do Your Part initiative. • Coordinate coalition communications, including drafting updates and correspondence to member organizations
  • Prepare for and follow up on coalition meetings, including agendas, materials, notes, and action items
  • Support member engagement and onboarding, including maintaining member records and communications
  • Track coalition activities to ensure alignment with organizational priorities
  • Support planning and execution of coalition meetings, convenings, and annual events, including the White Oak Collaborative Symposium

Do Your Part Initiative

  • Track state commitments and activities to ensure follow-through and alignment with program goals
  • Research, monitor, and analyze state policy developments affecting military and veteran families, synthesizing findings into actionable insights
  • Prepare briefings, talking points, and background materials on state and policy topics to support organizational engagement
  • Support state-focused communications, meetings, resources, and convenings

Blue Star Families (operating at bluestarfam.org) is a nonprofit advocacy and support platform engineered for military families. Founded in 2009 by military family members and headquartered in Encinitas, California, Blue Star Families addresses the unique challenges faced by military-connected individuals—ranging from frequent relocations and deployment separations to civilian community integration. Unlike traditional veteran-focused organizations, it centers on *all* military family members, including active-duty service members, National Guard, reservists, and their dependents. The organization achieves this through a combination of peer-driven networks, educational resources, and public awareness campaigns, fostering connections between military families and civilian communities. This allows military family members to access tailored support systems, advocacy tools, and opportunities to thrive despite the inherent instability of military life. With over 1.5 million annual engagements, Blue Star Families operates on a mission-driven model with no external funding, relying instead on grassroots participation and partnerships with corporate entities.
