Staff Writer & Editor (AI Safety Communications) at FAR.AI

FAR.AI is a non-profit AI research institute dedicated to ensuring advanced AI is safe and beneficial for everyone. They are seeking an experienced Staff Writer & Editor to lead the development of their written content, reporting to the Communications Team Lead.

Core Responsibilities:

• Writing to the Scientific Community:
• Collaborate with technical teams to identify key narratives and messages for research projects.
• Edit academic papers to improve clarity and structure for scholarly audiences, including LaTeX formatting.
• Write blog post summaries of papers for technically knowledgeable but non-expert audiences.
• Co-write blog posts, newsletters, and position papers with researchers to convey key ideas.
• Content Strategy & Execution:
• Translate research findings into actionable insights for policymakers and corporate decision-makers.
• Own written content for FAR.AI’s website, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational messaging.
• Develop and manage the quarterly newsletter, consolidating updates into a compelling narrative.
• Voice, Narrative & Messaging:
• Establish and maintain a consistent organizational voice and narrative.
• Equip staff across teams with messaging frameworks to amplify FAR.AI’s narrative.
• Collaborate with the Digital Media Manager to ensure social media consistency.
