As a Staff Accountant, you will report directly to the Controller and take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end close, and financial reporting. You will also manage vendor payables and coordinate utility accounts for active residential construction projects, working closely with field teams to ensure accurate and timely financial records, payments, and project-related accounting activities.

Company Profile:

Our client is an established US-based real estate company with a growing portfolio spanning several property and investment sectors. With an expanding operation, they are strengthening their accounting team to support the financial management and reporting requirements of their properties and investments.

As the company continues to grow and expand its presence, they are now looking for a talented Staff Accountant to join their team.

This is a great fit if you're a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys the pace of construction or real estate work and wants to build a long-term remote career with a growing US homebuilder.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and post journal entries to keep financial records accurate and up to date
  • Own and lead the month-end close process and review account balances for accuracy
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements, including consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement), to the Controller by the agreed deadline
  • Maintain and update the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring transactions are properly classified and coded
  • Review and process vendor invoices, matching them to purchase orders and coding costs to the correct project
  • Follow up with vendors to resolve discrepancies and monitor the accounts payable aging report to avoid late payments
  • Prepare and process the weekly check run
  • Manage insurance-related processes and process related payments
  • Process 1099 vendor tax forms, construction loan draws, and assist with payroll-related tasks
  • Respond to vendor correspondence and resolve billing questions or disputes
  • Maintain the sales contract tracking schedule and organize vendor compliance documents (W9s, certificates of insurance, lien waivers)
  • Coordinate utility accounts for active projects, including billing, due dates, and service setup or transitions
  • Support the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation as needed

Requirements

Must-have Skills/Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or relevant accounting degree
  • Minimum 5 years of general US accounting, bookkeeping, and accounts payable experience
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with QuickBooks
  • Proficient in MS Excel and any other relevant accounting or office software
  • Prior experience working with US-based clients or in an outsourced finance setup
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when coding costs to the correct project
  • Skilled at managing multiple vendor relationships and meeting recurring deadlines
  • Clear, professional written communication skills for vendor and internal correspondence
  • Strong organizational skills for tracking and maintaining compliance records
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setup
  • Reliable internet connection and a professional home office environment

Advantageous Skills/Experience:

  • CPA (Philippines) or equivalent professional qualification
  • Knowledge in homebuilding, construction, or real estate accounting
  • Experience with construction management software such as Buildertrend
