Want to know if you're a match for this job?
M7 Health is the AI-powered workforce operations platform for healthcare, designed for the realities of clinical staffing and scheduling. We use AI to help organizations forecast demand, auto-balance schedules, and deploy the right person to fill every shift before resorting to premium labor spend. The result: health systems reduce overtime, cut contract labor costs, and give clinical leaders time back to focus on care. Built with the earned wisdom of nurses, M7 serves tens of thousands of healthcare professionals daily and activated over 100 net new hospitals across 29 states, last year alone.
M7 recently raised a $10M Series A, backed by Threshold and First Round Capital, and we're building the team to match our ambition.
About The Role
We're looking for a Software Engineer, Integrations to build, scale, and operate the integrations that connect M7 to health systems' core platforms, including time and attendance (UKG, Symplr) and HRIS (Workday, ADP). These integrations already run in production across our hospital base. Your job is to harden and extend what we have as we grow, and to build the new integrations that expand our reach.
You'll spend your time writing production code, designing pipelines that ingest, transform, and reconcile data from messy source systems, and debugging the hard problems that come with integrating external platforms you don't control. You'll report to our Head of Engineering and work alongside a small group of engineers who own this layer together.
The integrations you build power M7's intelligence. Forecasting, auto-balancing, and staffing insights all depend on trustworthy data flowing in from every health system we serve, which means correctness and reliability are the core of the work rather than an afterthought.
Responsibilities
Build and extend the integration layer
- Enhance, scale, and extend M7's existing integrations across our time-and-attendance and HRIS source systems, and build new ones
- Design and implement the transformation and reconciliation logic that turns heterogeneous source data into a model M7 can build on
- Keep pipelines resilient and correct as we add customers and sources, and as upstream systems change without warning
Own reliability in production
- Contribute to the monitoring, alerting, and runbooks that keep data flowing at every customer site, and take part in the team's on-call rotation
- Diagnose data discrepancies to root cause, then fix the underlying failure mode rather than the symptom
- Build for idempotency, replay, and recovery, because being wrong here has real downstream consequences for a nurse's schedule and a hospital's payroll
Partner across the company
- Work with product to turn customer technical requirements into well-scoped systems, from discovery through delivery
- Work with the Activations team to make integrations deployable, well-documented, and supportable at scale
- Join technical calls with customer IT, payroll, or HR teams when a deep dive on a source system is needed.
What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)
- You're shipping in the codebase early, delivering fixes and enhancements to existing integrations and learning the domain by debugging real production issues.
- You've become a reliable owner of production health for the integrations you touch, improving monitoring and closing the gaps that generate repeat issues.
- You've meaningfully contributed to at least one new integration end-to-end, from scoping the source system through getting it live at a customer.
- You've built the working relationships across product and activations that let you scope and deliver without waiting to be told what to do next.
About You
- Hands-on engineer: You have 4+ years building and operating production software, with a track record of owning systems end-to-end rather than shipping tickets. You want writing code to stay central to your job.
- Strong on data and integrations: You're comfortable with APIs (REST and SOAP), file-based and SFTP feeds, webhook architectures, data schemas, SQL, and the transformation and reconciliation logic that comes with integrating messy external systems. You sweat data correctness and idempotency.
- Builder of reliable systems: You think in terms of failure modes, observability, and recovery. You've supported what you shipped and you design with that experience in mind.
- Clear communicator: You write up what you found, flag risk early, and can explain a data discrepancy to a product manager or a hospital IT analyst without losing either of them.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: Source systems are undocumented, customer environments differ, and the requirements aren't always written down. You turn that into working systems without waiting for perfect clarity.
- AI-Native: You're fluent with AI coding assistants in your daily workflow, and interested in building AI-assisted tooling into how the team operates.
- Attitude and Culture: You are aligned with M7's values: you act with urgency, bring relentless curiosity, lead with kindness, and hold yourself to a high standard of craft. You're passionate about the mission of making health systems stronger and show it every day.
Nice to Haves
- Direct UKG experience: Hands-on familiarity with UKG data models (employee records, scheduling data, T&A feeds, pay rules).
- Background at a healthcare SaaS company: Understanding how large hospital networks make integration decisions is especially compelling.
- Experience with our stack: TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar).
- Experience building data platforms or pipelines that intelligence or ML features are built on top of.
- Venture-backed startup experience: Comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-growing environment.
