What You Will Do:
- Provide strategic legal counsel on international expansion, entity and market-entry pathways, compliance, and risk considerations for operations in new and existing jurisdictions.
- Advise on global privacy and data protection requirements, including cross-border data transfers and localized requirements including on user terms, notices, privacy impact assessments, vendor contracts, and consent approaches.
- Help harmonize regional requirements into global standards with pragmatic country-level deviations that facilitate the ability to quickly expand into new jurisdictions.
- Partner with Regulatory Affairs and Product to align on regulatory pathways and compliance considerations for new features and markets.
- Build, maintain, and socialize scalable legal templates, guardrails, and playbooks that streamline international launches and reduce cycle time.
- Operationalize multi-jurisdictional launches, including coordinating with outside counsel across regions and consolidating country-specific advice into clear, actionable guidance that can be communicated with and actioned by internal technical and non-legal stakeholders.
- Support responses to regulatory authority inquiries, enforcement matters, risk-related considerations, and policy interpretation; coordinate strategy and communications with outside counsel as needed.
- Advise on advertising and promotional compliance, substantiation requirements, and labeling considerations to ensure alignment with regulatory clearances and applicable consumer protection laws.
- Provide counsel on global trade compliance for product and data flows, including export controls (EAR/ITAR), sanctions/embargoes, customs/import classification (HTS), ECCN and dual-use analysis, restricted-party screening, and distributor/partner diligence.
- Help implement and maintain policies, training, and controls to support prompt cross-border launches and supply chain resilience.
- Support legal program enablement by helping to develop simple intake, triage, and review lanes; clear escalation paths; and metrics that demonstrate business enablement, internal compliance, and risk management.
What you'll bring
- 7+ years of relevant legal experience, including advising on international expansion and global privacy and/or product regulatory matters.
- Demonstrated ability to counsel cross-functional teams (Product, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Operations) in a fast-paced environment with pragmatic, business-forward guidance.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (or international equivalent in a common law jurisdiction).
- Strong working knowledge of major global privacy frameworks and cross-border transfer mechanisms, and familiarity with international consumer and marketing law considerations. Comfort translating complex, multi-regional rules into actionable, product-ready requirements.
- Experience building scalable legal processes (templates, playbooks, SLAs), communicating with regulators, and managing outside counsel across regions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of simplifying complexity for executive and non-legal audiences.
Nice to have:
- In-house experience at a high-growth technology or consumer health company.
- Exposure to wearable technologies, digital health, connected devices, and/or software-as-a-medical-device regulation.
- Specific expertise supporting EU/UK markets.

Oura is a pioneering health technology company that created the Oura Ring, a sleek, premium smart ring packed with advanced sensors. While companies like Apple and Garmin focus on wrist-based wearables, Oura recognized that measuring biometrics from the arteries in your finger provides significantly more accurate heart rate, temperature, and blood oxygen data. Originally famous as the ultimate 'sleep tracker' beloved by professional athletes and biohackers, Oura has evolved into a comprehensive 24/7 health companion. It tracks activity, cardiovascular health, stress levels, and women's health, translating massive amounts of biometric data into simple, actionable daily scores.
