The Project Accountant will report to the VP, Accounting & Financial Reporting and serve as the primary liaison between Accounting and the Finance, Development, Construction, and Operations teams.

This is a high-visibility role for someone who wants to take ownership of their projects and help improve how the work gets done. The Project Accountant will gain broad exposure across the business and have a real hand in shaping process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own project-level accounting for assigned projects — reviewing and validating invoice coding and project allocation, partnering with Accounts Payable on invoice and payment support, and coordinating the project financing (draw) package as the accounting point of contact.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Finance, Development, Construction, Operations, and Procurement to ensure accurate accounting and cost allocation across a multi-entity organization. This role involves significant cross-functional interaction and the opportunity to influence and improve business processes.
  • Prepare and own monthly and quarterly project reconciliations, continuously improving processes, controls, and supporting documentation.
  • Help document and improve accounting processes and procedures to support a growing organization.
  • Prepare internal and external project-level reporting.
  • Support month-end close and financial audits, recommending procedural improvements to ensure accounting and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as requested.

The company seeks individuals eager to develop their core professional knowledge, learn new areas of the business, and take on additional responsibilities within the company's dynamic team. Secondary responsibilities will be tailored to individual candidate backgrounds as well as company priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience demonstrating an understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
  • 2-4 years of general accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Key Attributes for Success

  • Eagerness to take ownership, bring ideas to improve processes, and grow within a fast-moving environment.
  • Attention to detail and good time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with Ramp, Expensify, Corpay, and/or Sage Intacct or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Experience working on multiple projects/developments simultaneously.
  • Ability to adhere to monthly, quarterly, and annual department-driven deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills – able to work effectively in a team environment and attentive to timelines.
  • Confidentiality and integrity.

Del Playa Group (operating at delplayagroup.com) is a professional services platform engineered for businesses and CPA firms seeking scalable finance and audit solutions. Founded through the strategic merger of NS Auxilium and MN Group by Noel Navarro, Darren Devine, and Steven Prohaska, and headquartered in Orange County, California, Del Playa Group bridges the gap between local CFO expertise and top-tier offshore talent. Traditional finance teams often struggle with cost inefficiencies, talent shortages, and outdated technology, leading to bottlenecks in audit and accounting processes. Del Playa Group solves this by combining fractional CFO guidance with outsourced audit and accounting talent, leveraging technology to streamline workflows and reduce overhead. This allows mid-market businesses and accounting firms to access specialized financial expertise without the burden of full-time hires, accelerating decision-making and operational agility. While specific funding details are not disclosed, the company’s growth reflects its focus on delivering high-impact financial solutions through a hybrid model of local leadership and global talent.
