The Role

We are hiring a Partnerships BDR to build and continuously refresh a qualified pipeline of new healthcare data partners.

This role is responsible for making sourcing an always-on function. You will identify organizations that hold valuable healthcare datasets, including partners who may not yet realize their data can be commercialized, and help expand Protege's reach across modalities, channels, and partner types. This is not a strictly source-and-contact BDR role –– the work carries strategic impact in how we view, segment, and prioritize prospective partners.

You will sit at the front end of the healthcare partnership lifecycle, pairing tightly with Alex, Marketing, and Data Lab to map the market, run disciplined outbound and triage inbounds, qualify early fit, and hand off strong opportunities into deeper qualification and activation.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain a targeted pipeline of prospective healthcare data partners across key modalities and market segments.

  • Map the market to identify data holders, strategic contacts, channel partners, brokers, and other high-leverage sourcing paths.

  • Support the development of a segmentation and prioritization framework for prospective partners.

  • Stay on top of market and industry trends, incumbent and emerging players (and funding activity) and proactively communicate what’s relevant to Healthcare Partnerships to promote informed decision making and prioritization for sourcing.

  • Prospect into new partners through outbound email, calls, LinkedIn, referrals, conferences, and other channel-driven motions – including organizing in-person events (dinners, office visits, conference events, etc.).

  • Run first-touch discovery conversations to understand dataset quality, modality fit, licensing posture, commercial flexibility, and ability to scale.

  • Evaluate opportunities against Protege fit, including data relevance, operational readiness, partner sophistication, and valuation potential.

  • Create concise handoff briefs that help Strategic Partnerships, Healthcare, and the Strategic Partnerships Manager move qualified partners quickly into sample evaluation and deal work.

  • Maintain strong pipeline hygiene in Salesforce and help build, monitor, and present reporting dashboards and key sourcing metrics; you will own conversion and funnel metrics and use data to inform allocation of resources.

  • Support development of category briefs, market maps, one-pagers, and other collateral that sharpens Protege's healthcare partnership motion.

  • Monitor inbound healthcare partner interest and work closely with Marketing to improve conversion and channel performance.

  • Feed market insights back into the broader healthcare partnerships strategy so sourcing priorities evolve with customer demand and portfolio learnings.

What Success Looks Like

  • Build the foundation: Within 30 days, you have built fluency in Protege's healthcare partnership thesis, priority data modalities, target partner profiles, and existing sourcing channels, and you have established an initial market map, outbound workflow, and repeatable prospecting cadence.

  • Generate qualified pipeline: Within 60 days, you are consistently generating qualified discovery conversations, producing clear handoffs for deeper qualification, and helping the team identify promising new partner categories, channel opportunities, and market gaps.

  • Create a sourcing engine: Within 90 days, you are operating as the always-on top-of-funnel engine for Healthcare Partnerships, with reliable sourcing activity, clean reporting, improving conversion quality, and stronger visibility into which segments and channels are most likely to produce high-value partners. You are consistently briefing the team on market trends and recommending how we should segment and prioritize.

You Might Be a Fit If

  • You have experience in business development, partnerships, market development, or outbound sourcing in a fast-moving environment, ideally with existing relationships and experience in healthcare.

  • You are energized by building from scratch and creating structure where little exists today.

  • You are strong at research, prospecting, qualification, and synthesizing ambiguous information into clear next steps.

  • You can speak credibly with external stakeholders about data assets, commercialization opportunities, and strategic fit.

  • You are highly organized, metrics-oriented, and disciplined about pipeline management and follow-through.

  • You are comfortable operating cross-functionally with commercial, technical, and marketing stakeholders.

  • Experience in healthcare data, healthcare partnerships, or AI data ecosystems is strongly preferred.

Protege (Protege Health, Inc.) is a highly specialized data infrastructure platform designed to solve one of the biggest bottlenecks in modern artificial intelligence: the shortage of high-quality, proprietary training data. Operating as the critical connective tissue between data rights holders and AI model builders, the company securely aggregates, curates, and delivers AI-ready datasets across highly complex domains. Under the hood, Protege manages a massive network of non-public, real-world data covering healthcare, video, audio, motion capture, and AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction). They handle the heavy lifting of data curation, de-identification, and compliance, ensuring that frontier AI labs can seamlessly ingest uncontaminated data for pre-training, supervised fine-tuning, and rigorous benchmarking. Their primary target audience spans both sides of the AI economy: enterprise data providers looking to safely monetize their proprietary assets without compromising IP rights, and elite AI model builders (from fast-growing startups to massive tech labs) starving for domain-specific intelligence. What sets Protege apart in the explosive AI landscape—fueled by significant backing from heavyweight investors like Andreessen Horowitz (a16z)—is its dual mandate to rapidly accelerate AI model development while establishing a fair, transparent, and financially rewarding ecosystem for the original creators and owners of the data.
