The Role
As a Market Development Director at REGENXBIO, you will drive regional strategy and commercial launch readiness for innovative therapies targeting rare and neuromuscular diseases. This field-based leadership role involves:
- Developing and executing targeted engagement strategies for key accounts in assigned regions.
- Establishing REGENXBIO as a trusted partner in the neuromuscular and rare disease communities.
- Leading regional business planning aligned with corporate goals and cross-functional priorities.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders—including Sales, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Advocacy, Marketing, and Market Access—to synthesize customer insights, inform strategic decisions, and optimize messaging and programs.
- Ensuring adequate resource allocation to drive regional business success.
- Identifying, educating, and aligning thought leaders to strategic imperatives while executing brand initiatives.
- Profiling treatment centers to assess readiness, patient care models, referral patterns, and logistical infrastructure.
- Delivering education on REGENXBIO’s products and managing end-treatment administration logistics.
- Identifying and addressing barriers to care, including infusion capacity, billing/coding challenges, and payer dynamics.
- Supporting reimbursement readiness and validating regional processes for market access.
- Cultivating strategic partnerships and referral networks to support launch and market expansion.
- Defining and tracking KPIs to measure launch execution quality and speed.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for assigned treatment centers, experts, and stakeholders.
- Driving brand awareness, engagement, and treatment adoption through innovative commercial strategies.
- Monitoring regional trends in competitive, regulatory, and payer landscapes to inform strategy.
- Championing a customer-first mindset to ensure execution reflects the needs of patients and providers.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years in commercial, market development, or strategic customer engagement within biotech/pharma.
- Bachelor’s degree required (BA/BS); advanced degree (MBA, PhD, PharmD) strongly preferred.
- Proven track record in the rare disease space, ideally including neuromuscular indications.
- Experience supporting new product launches in complex therapeutic areas.
- Strong understanding of U.S. healthcare dynamics, market access, and reimbursement pathways.
- Familiarity with account-based models and stakeholder mapping in specialty care.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to extract insights from data and apply them to commercial decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align cross-functional teams toward shared goals.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and a mission-driven approach.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 60% for stakeholder engagements.
