Long-Form YouTube Scriptwriter (Finance & Macro)

The Role

You will write Future Finance’s long-form YouTube scripts—30 to 35 minutes, roughly 4,200 words, one per week—and own the research behind every claim, ensuring every assertion traces to a primary document. Additionally, you will cut 3–4 short-form scripts from each episode for distribution.

You will not select topics or handle packaging (titles, thumbnails), as this remains with the showrunner and production agency. You will also avoid naming the channel’s proprietary frameworks, as these originate from Salim. You may reference mechanisms he has already explained but will not invent new ones for him to defend on camera.

What success looks like:

• Deliver one publish-ready script per week (minimum), totaling four scripts per month, including a full package: research memo, six-beat hook, body, retention map, inline SHOW/SOURCE tags, and a self-scored review sheet.
• Clear the review gate with a score of 7/9 or higher on the first submission, adhering to the Future Finance Content Standard.
• Ensure zero unsourced factual claims—every claim must carry a SOURCE tag to a primary document, with both sides of contested arguments argued. Thin research must be flagged and never filled with plausible numbers.
• Meet retention targets: 70%+ first-minute retention and an average view duration above the channel baseline.
• Maintain compliance in every script—avoid predictions, recommendations, or certainty language about future events.
• Execute weekly workflows: submit research memos ahead of packaging, attend weekly reviews, maintain Slack availability during working hours, and flag deadline risks the day they arise.

Requirements

What we're looking for:

• Sourcing discipline—open primary documents, not secondary articles, and defend claims on the spot.
• Finance literacy—read and analyze documents like 10-Ks, central bank statements, or BIS papers to construct arguments.
• Register control—adjust emotional tone without resorting to wealth-guru or doom-driven language, and rewrite hyped content to retain stakes.
• Retention craft—design open loops, pattern interrupts, and a deliberate climax, with the ability to map retention strategies.
• Writing for the ear—script for teleprompter use: one idea per sentence, define terms at first use, and read aloud before submission.
• Comfort working within established frameworks—flag argument gaps and halt progress rather than hedge or strengthen unsupported claims.
• Proactivity, attention to detail, high standards, curiosity about macroeconomic and digital assets, and integrity in research.

What you'll need to show us:

1. Proven scale in finance/macro long-form content: seven figures in cumulative views (25+ minutes) or a verified 3x outlier against a serious finance channel’s average. Retention data (average view duration, first-minute retention) must be provided via YouTube Studio screenshare or confirmed by the channel owner.
2. A high-value audience—demonstrate what the channel sells, its pricing, target demographic, and sponsor class/CPM. Our audience is 45+ with $1M+ net worth.
3. At least one sample in a calm, sourced, institutional register. Portfolios dominated by hype, get-rich, or doom content are disqualified.
4. Willingness to complete a paid work sample: one assigned title, five working days, paid $1,250 regardless of hiring outcome.

How we'll hire:

• Stage 1: Review past work and conduct an interview. We assess actual work (not summaries or link lists) against the four requirements above. If all four are evidenced, you advance regardless of personal writing preferences.
• Stage 2: Paid trial script. Complete one assigned title within five days using the Content Standard. Payment of $1,250 is guaranteed, regardless of hiring outcome. Deliverables include: a two-page research memo (every claim sourced to primary documents, contested arguments argued), a six-beat hook (70 words or fewer), the full script with inline SHOW/SOURCE tags, and a retention map.
• Stage 3: Contract → conversion. After the trial script, a contract with a three-month trial period at the monthly rate is offered. Conversion to a permanent role occurs on day 90 based on performance against outlined outcomes.
