The Rockstar group of companies, operating in the fundraising and consumer goods industries, is seeking an HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations across multiple companies within their portfolio.

About the Role

The HR Generalist will handle recruiting coordination, benefits administration, onboarding/offboarding, backup payroll coordination, contract management, employee engagement initiatives, and general office administrative duties. This role is pivotal in ensuring HR operations run smoothly, partnering closely with the Head of Human Resources and leadership on strategic decisions. An operator mindset with a focus on organization, detail, and action is essential for success in this fast-paced and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support benefits administration, including enrollment, ongoing benefits questions, and coordination of open enrollment and ongoing administration.
  • Support full-cycle recruiting for specific roles, including posting requisitions, scheduling interviews, coordinating with hiring managers, and supporting offer logistics.
  • Own onboarding and offboarding administration, including new hire paperwork, systems setup coordination, background checks, exit processes, and payroll updates.
  • Process and support payroll coordination for both hourly/salaried employees and 1099 contractors, partnering with Finance and HRIS/payroll providers.
  • Manage HRIS system changes, coding updates, and payroll tax setup for various state and local tax codes, and proactively flag software changes to HR leadership.
  • Assist with HR reporting, headcount tracking, and ad hoc projects supporting the broader HR function.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and HR system data with a high level of attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Support HR leadership with compliance administration, including tracking key filing deadlines for 5500, I-9 documentation, and required postings.
  • Assist with safety compliance, training, and OSHA tracking/reporting (with support from the Safety Manager).
  • Perform office administrative duties such as ordering/stocking office supplies and managing office maintenance tickets.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree with a focus in HR, Communications, Administrative, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in an HR generalist, HR coordinator, or HR specialist role; PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
  • Experience with benefits administration and preparing open-enrollment census data.
  • Experience with full-cycle internal recruiting (preferably in manufacturing, sales, product & engineering technology, or finance).
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes, benefits administration, and core HR compliance requirements (I-9, wage & hour basics, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, OSHA).
  • Technical comfort with HRIS/ATS software platforms, with experience in ADP and Paylocity preferred.
  • Experience supporting both W-2 employees and 1099 contractors is preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR audits related to work comp, 401k, and payroll.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new HR software, systems, and skills quickly, including practical use of AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, and similar platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail and discretion in handling confidential employee information.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple concurrent tasks and deadlines.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.

Success Metrics

  • Recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding run smoothly with minimal escalations.
  • Compliance deadlines and documentation are met without issues.
  • Leadership trusts that sensitive matters are flagged early.
  • HR is experienced as responsive, action-oriented, consistent, and flexible.

What This Role Is Not

This is a tactical operator role, not a strategic HR leadership position. Responsibilities such as compensation decisions, termination decisions, policy changes, budgeting, and anything with legal exposure are owned by company leadership. The role focuses on flagging strategic or compliance matters promptly and executing administrative responsibilities.

However, there will be opportunities to develop strategic HR skills over time.
