Movement Strategy is looking for a Group Strategy Director to lead the strategic output across a group of exciting brands at the forefront of technology and entertainment. You will guide the development and execution of best-in-class social strategy, produce and make sense of key cultural, consumer, and market intelligence, provide trusted guidance to senior client partners, manage and develop a team of strategists, and foster a culture of curious collaboration and continuous learning within the department. You’ll function as a critical member of a trio of group-level leaders responsible to ensure client needs, strategic vision, and broader business objectives stay aligned across business units.
What You'll Do:
- Strategic direction
- Own the strategic vision across all group accounts, lead the development of strategy playbooks for new and renewed accounts, and establish the direction, goals, and strategic processes that the whole team builds on.
- Ensure all strategy work is rooted in genuine consumer insight and business understanding.
- Translate cultural, audience, platform, and performance insight into actionable, compelling strategic narratives.
- Lead platform-specific thinking across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X and emerging platforms, guiding how brands show up natively on each.
- Drive experimentation with new storytelling formats and creative approaches.
- Partner well with creative teams to translate strategy into powerful, platform-native brand work and model strong strategy + creative dynamics for junior team members.
- Monitor cultural, competitive, and platform shifts, bring recommendations to the group leadership trio, and lead the team through strategic pivots when needed.
- Act as the strategic integrator across departments, ensuring insights flow seamlessly between research, data, creative, and paid media.
- Team leadership
- Provide training and guidance for strategy team members to sharpen their thinking, presentation skills, research methods, develop new strategic approaches, and craft strong strategic narratives.
- Foster a culture of curious collaboration and continuous learning within the group; actively participate in strategy team Slack channels by sharing articles, posing and answering questions, championing team wins, and sparking connections.
- Share responsibility with group-level leads for building a best-in-class team across the group’s account portfolio; give direct, ongoing feedback and invest in the development of direct reports.
- AI and platform intelligence
- Partner with our data center to inform measurement frameworks and reporting, ensuring strategy stays grounded in performance without becoming a data function itself.
- Bring practical experience with AI tools, whether through trend identification, workflow enhancements, social listening, or new forms of storytelling.
- Stay ahead of social platform and behavioral shifts and translate them into strategic recommendations for clients.
- Embed Movement’s proprietary data intelligence platform (Chassis) into how strategy gets built and delivered across the group’s portfolio.
- Guide strategists to leverage AI and tools responsibly to save time without sacrificing quality and originality of output.
- Client leadership
- Serve as a senior strategic advisor to our most senior clients and build enduring relationships based on trust, value, and vision.
- Bring insight and strategic recommendations regularly and proactively.
- Translate cultural, audience, and performance insight into actionable, compelling strategic narratives.
- Be the day-to-day strategic lead on one of the agency’s largest accounts, owning the full strategic output from setting briefs and KPIs to translating insight into next-gen channel strategy.
Business leadership
- Understand revenue, margin, and burn across the group’s accounts; know who’s stretched, who’s underutilized, and escalate issues proactively.
- Partner with the account lead on annual and quarterly planning, shaping goals and strategic priorities.
- Work with group-level trio to build, refine, and own scopes of work and strategy team staffing across the group’s portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to expand scope or deepen the client relationship, partner with account lead to bring them to fruition, and build into SOWs.
New business
- Lead strategy for pitches and new business opportunities as needed.
- Develop new business skills (research, creative partnership, storytelling, presentation) among junior and mid-level strategists.
Who You Are:
- Experience: 10+ years in social and cultural strategy, ideally in a fast-paced agency setting. Proven success leading and developing strategy teams across multiple accounts.

- Leadership: A collaborative, emotionally intelligent leader with a track record of mentoring talent and fostering engaged, diverse, high-performing teams.
