About the Role
Spreetail is seeking a Sr. Director, Retail FP&A to lead Merchandise Finance in a high-visibility role reporting directly to the CFO. This position involves close collaboration with the Chief Merchandising Officer, Chief Growth Officer, and Chief Operating Officer to design, build, and execute Spreetail’s retail merchandise plan. The role extends beyond merchandise to include FP&A for Channels & Business Development and Marketing teams, providing full visibility and influence over the total Retail P&L.
Key Responsibilities
To achieve success in this role, you will:
- Partner directly with the CMO, Chief Growth Officer, and COO to build Spreetail’s retail merchandise plan, translating strategic priorities into forward-looking financial models and analysis.
- Own FP&A across Merchandise/Retail, Channels & Business Development, and Marketing, tracking weekly performance against plan and holding teams accountable to results.
- Identify KPIs that matter most, build reporting that surfaces key drivers and trends, and drive actions from those insights to create measurable value.
- Build, develop, and motivate a team of approximately 5 FP&A managers and analysts, growing deep subject-matter expertise across each business line while scaling the team’s processes and tools.
- Stay hands-on with the data, using SQL to pull and structure your own analysis, ensuring you can move fast and engage directly in models, data, or decks when needed.
Required Experience
To excel in this role, you should have:
- 8–10+ years in business, finance, or accounting, including 5+ years leading FP&A teams, ideally with a track record of building and scaling a team of 5 or more.
- A background in retail, ecommerce, or merchandise finance, with fluency in the dynamics of a fast-moving retail P&L.
- Experience supporting multiple business lines or P&Ls simultaneously, such as retail/merchandise, marketing, and channel/BD, with the ability to prioritize across competing needs.
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in advanced Excel and BI tools, with a demonstrated ability to be self-sufficient with data.
- A history of presenting to and influencing C-suite executives, paired with strong project management skills and a bias toward action in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
Company Culture and Benefits
Spreetail offers a flexible and inclusive work environment with the following benefits:
- Flexibility to take care of yourself with a generous vacation policy, paid time off for weddings, and paid parental leave.
- Recognition of accomplishments through special gifts, swag store credit, or donations to a nonprofit of your choice, including Spreetail Spotlight Awards.
- Support for health and wellness with affordable medical, dental, and vision plans, along with free telehealth and on-demand mental health resources.
- Opportunities to revolutionize your community with paid time off for volunteer work.

Spreetail
View Company ProfileSpreetail is a full-service omnichannel ecommerce accelerator designed specifically for brands and manufacturers of big-and-bulky products (like furniture, outdoor gear, and appliances). Instead of acting as a typical marketing agency, Spreetail actually buys the inventory directly from the manufacturer at wholesale. They then take full ownership of the process: listing the products across 12+ major marketplaces (including Amazon, Walmart, and Target), optimizing the listings with high-quality content, running ad campaigns, and handling the complex logistics of storing and shipping oversized items so they reach the customer's door the very next day.
