Spreetail is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst, Merchandising Finance to serve as a critical analytical partner to the Merchandising and Category leadership teams, shaping pricing, promotions, assortment, and category profitability strategies. This is a highly analytical, SQL-intensive role designed for someone who thrives on handling complex data.
You will independently query and model large-scale datasets in Snowflake, build sophisticated Price, Volume, Mix (PVM) analyses, and translate dense financial details into clear, decisive recommendations that influence real commercial outcomes. This role involves owning the financial rigor behind new SKU and assortment launches, evaluating marketing spend and incrementality, and bringing operational finance discipline to a fast-moving ecommerce environment.
What experiences will help you in this role:
- Proven experience partnering directly with Merchandising, Category, or Commercial leadership in a senior operational finance capacity, driving decisions on pricing strategy, promotional effectiveness, assortment planning, and category-level profitability at scale.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Price, Volume, Mix (PVM) analysis, with the ability to build PVM models from scratch, isolate business drivers, and translate complex financial mechanics into narratives that shape executive-level decisions.
- Extensive SQL expertise, writing complex and performant queries independently against large transactional datasets in Snowflake or equivalent platforms to build financial models and dashboards without relying on data engineering support.
- A track record of owning end-to-end financial support for new SKU, brand, or assortment launches, including forecasting, margin modeling, cannibalization analysis, and post-launch performance measurement across multiple concurrent launches.
- Experience evaluating marketing spend and incrementality, partnering with Marketing and FP&A leadership to assess ROI, trade-offs, and downstream impacts on demand, margin, and inventory position.
How you will achieve success:
- Bring a strong foundation in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Data Analytics, paired with the analytical skills to independently untangle ambiguous, high-stakes business questions and deliver precise, decision-ready insights.
- Apply 7–10+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or merchandising finance, with retail or ecommerce exposure strongly preferred, operating with the autonomy expected at a Principal level.
- Demonstrate advanced, daily fluency in SQL and Snowflake to extract and manipulate complex, large-scale datasets, alongside strong Power BI and advanced Excel skills to build automated, scalable reporting infrastructure.
- Lead in-depth financial modeling, PVM analysis, and scenario planning to surface margin improvement, inventory efficiency, and category profitability levers, often defining the analytical approach rather than following a template.
- Operate as a thought partner to senior Merchandising and Finance stakeholders, communicating data-dense findings with clarity, driving cross-functional alignment, and proactively identifying where deeper analysis is needed.

Spreetail
View Company ProfileSpreetail is a full-service omnichannel ecommerce accelerator designed specifically for brands and manufacturers of big-and-bulky products (like furniture, outdoor gear, and appliances). Instead of acting as a typical marketing agency, Spreetail actually buys the inventory directly from the manufacturer at wholesale. They then take full ownership of the process: listing the products across 12+ major marketplaces (including Amazon, Walmart, and Target), optimizing the listings with high-quality content, running ad campaigns, and handling the complex logistics of storing and shipping oversized items so they reach the customer's door the very next day.
