About Tines: Founded in 2018 with co-headquarters in Dublin and Boston, Tines powers some of the world’s most important workflows through an intelligent, vendor-agnostic automation platform. Tines applies AI, integrations, and human ingenuity to connect any API-enabled service across the global tech stack, accelerating mission-critical targets for startups and public enterprises alike, including Canva, Databricks, Elastic, and McKesson. Secure and private by design, Tines is heavily trusted by security, compliance, and engineering teams to automate complex architectures without sacrificing defensive baselines.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, compliance-fluent, and infrastructure-minded Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Government Cloud to join our centralized platform engineering cell under a permanent, full-time remote configuration based in the United States, with a geographical preference for the Greater Boston Area. In this high-stakes, specialized operational seat, you will claim absolute architectural ownership, deployment automation, and audit-readiness accountability for the isolated AWS GovCloud infrastructure hosting our platform for federal agencies. Shifting completely away from front-end layout modifications, generic IT support ticket desks, or non-technical file data entry, you will drive an active hardened container pipeline, multi-tenant encryption routing, and system monitoring laboratory—partnering face-to-face with federal assessment partners and product teams. This position requires a cloud infrastructure authority with 5+ years of experience who handles distributed network topologies fluidly natively using DevOps and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) modules, maintains FIPS-compliant image pipelines within high-security boundaries, tracks complex clusters like OpenSearch, and drafts precise technical runbooks required for FedRAMP and CMMC authorization frameworks. Due to strict U.S. government mandates, applicants must hold United States citizenship and perform all work while physically located within the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

  • AWS GovCloud Environment Governance: Build, manage, and operate high-security cloud environments, translating foundational network architecture into production-ready, highly observable platforms natively utilizing DevOps pipelines.
  • Declarative Infrastructure Codification: Author, modularize, and scale reusable infrastructure-as-code blueprints via Terraform or AWS CDK to provision isolated, multi-account dedicated customer spaces.
  • Hardened Container Pipeline Instrumentation: Manage the automated container lifecycle—building, scanning, and promoting FIPS-compliant, vulnerability-free images through CI/CD pipelines using native AWS utilities.
  • FedRAMP Audit & Diagram Synthesis: Author exhaustive technical plans, architecture diagrams, and system evidence files required for formal FedRAMP assessments, directly defending design configurations during assessor evaluations.
  • Access Structure & Boundary Calibration: Formulate least-privilege IAM models and permission boundaries that allow developer pods to deploy and debug code efficiently without breaking security baselines.
  • Telemetry Optimization & Automated Triage: Construct observability dashboards, custom alarms, and telemetry matrices using OpenSearch, Prometheus, or Grafana, funneling data into an automated Tines instance to drive self-healing triage workflows.
  • On-Call Escalation Engineering: Participate in the team’s rotating deployment support schedules, handling complex, long-running escalations for self-hosted federal entities within CMMC boundaries.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5+ years of proven professional history operating within a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Architect, or closely matching technical platform capacity.
  • Expert Production-Grade Cloud Fluency: Deep, hands-on production history engineering infrastructure solutions natively within Amazon Web Services (AWS), navigating VPC architectures, encryption-at-rest, and transit networking hooks under intense enterprise workloads.
  • Hands-on experience developing reusable code matrices with Terraform or AWS CDK tailored specifically to compliance-regulated environments (such as FedRAMP, FISMA, or CMMC regulations).
  • Demonstrated capability designing secure artifact pipelines, with practical command over base image provenance, container hardening mechanisms, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Outstanding technical writing and presentation communication strengths in English, with a proven ability to produce auditable tech documentation and articulate architectural choices during third-party compliance reviews.
  • Mandatory Citizenship & Location Parameters: Explicit requirement for United States citizenship and the absolute commitment to perform all operational duties while located inside the United States.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Direct pre-existing experience deploying or troubleshooting applications explicitly inside the AWS GovCloud (US) region.
  • Familiarity or engineering exposure to the NIST SP 800-53 control family or achieving FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board (JAB) thresholds.
  • Practical framework experience with backend systems such as Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, or automated Kubernetes routing mesh layers.
  • Proximity to our downtown Boston, MA hub, allowing for optional in-person engineering workshops and team alignment events.

What We Offer

  • Top-Tier Government Cloud SRE Remuneration: A highly competitive, transparent annual base salary structure of $210,000 - $220,000 USD, supplemented by generous corporate equity allocations and a comprehensive rewards package.
  • 100% remote workspace infrastructure freedom across the United States, paired with access to a beautiful co-working hub in downtown Boston.
  • High-Impact Mission Boundaries: Unique professional growth milestones achieved by safeguarding the workflow automation pipelines powering the world’s most secure digital organizations.
  • Comprehensive health care preservation benefits protecting employees, with additional coverage features available for dependents.
  • Access to robust continuous learning avenues, professional development tracking, tech equipment allowances, and an inclusive corporate culture that lives by Speed, Simplicity, and Soundness.
