Senior Product Designer

The role

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to shape the core experience our members rely on every day across iOS, Android and web.

You'll own the moments that matter: onboarding, listing homes, finding and applying for sits, matching with the right sitter or owner, preparing for a stay. This is a hands-on role as the primary designer in your squad. You'll have real strategic influence over your area's direction and drive measurable impact for both our members and the business.

What You'll Do

• Design mobile-first experiences that work across iOS, Android and web, respecting platform conventions while staying consistent with our design system
• Own discovery research and testing for your squad (interviews, usability testing, concept testing) and measure impact using product analytics and qualitative signals to guide iteration
• Define problems and hypotheses with your squad, choose the right validation method to make sure we're building the right thing for our customers
• Design AI-powered features for matching, personalisation and communication with trust and transparency built in, and use AI tools daily to speed up exploration, prototyping and synthesis
• Work with stakeholders across product, engineering, user research, content, data and commercial teams, communicating design rationale clearly to stakeholders, facilitating workshops to create alignment and negotiating trade-offs
• Contribute to and evolve the design system, partnering with Design Systems to create robust, accessible, cross-platform patterns
• Build solutions that scale. Map journeys and service relationships rather than solving problems in isolation, and champion craft and accessibility throughout

What you'll need

Strategy and systems thinking

Strong systems thinking with experience designing complex customer journeys end-to-end. Proven ability to set customer-centric vision and translate it into practical, phased delivery while balancing member needs with business goals and technical constraints.

Research and methodology

Hands-on user research skills, confident choosing methods and synthesising insight into clear design direction. Able to frame complex challenges into clear problem statements and testable hypotheses, with solid understanding of experimentation methods and when to use each.

Craft and execution

Exceptional interaction and visual design craft with meticulous attention to detail, including advanced prototyping and working within mature design systems. Deep knowledge of mobile interface guidelines and best practices, backed by a portfolio showing end-to-end, beautifully crafted, user-centred work with measurable impact on customer and business outcomes.

AI in design

Confident daily use of AI-assisted design and prototyping tools as part of your everyday workflow. You'll ideally be working in Cursor, Claude Code or similar for at least some of your workflow and you'll bring ideas of how AI tools can be used to drive efficiency and impact across the design process.

Collaboration and culture

Excellent communication and storytelling skills with comfort working in empowered, cross-functional squads. Experience in scale-ups with strong product and experimentation culture. You'll need to be confident in selling your ideas across the business, creating alignment and inspiring others.

Nice to have

• Experience designing AI/ML-powered features such as recommendations engines and LLMs with good understanding of the UX challenges they create - trust, comprehension, feedback loops, agency etc.
• Experience in two-sided marketplaces, subscription or membership businesses, or trust and safety-sensitive products.
• Self-serve analytics experience (Amplitude, Mode) and familiarity with research depository tools such as Dovetail, Chattermill.

What you'll bring

You'll own the product design process end-to-end.

At TrustedHousesitters we start with the customer. You'll need to be able to show us how you've used quantitative and qualitative user research to inform your approach to solving product design problems.

You'll feel like a fish out of water if:

• Your design experience is web-only - you haven't shaped native iOS or Android app experiences.
• Your background is mainly B2B, enterprise, or public sector - you're used to solving problems functionally, and this role needs you to think about design emotionally too.
• You'd rather be handed a fully-scoped brief than help define the problem yourself - you'll be the primary designer in your squad, shaping direction, not just executing someone else's spec.
• You're sceptical of AI having a genuine place in the design process, or you actively avoid using AI tools in your own workflow.
• When you disagree with a decision, you tend to raise it and step back - we need people who'll stay in the room and help find the way through.
