Our UK customers can also save, invest, and combine their pensions with us.

With our hot coral cards, get-paid-early feature, financial education on social media, and award-winning customer service, we create magical moments for our customers!

We’re not about selling products—we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo ā¤ļø

🌱 About Growth

Our Growth collective focuses on helping more people discover Monzo, understand what makes us different, and find the products that can make money work better for them.

For this role, you’ll have a particular focus on our web experiences, helping us rethink how people discover, explore, and choose Monzo before they ever open the app. You’ll combine strong visual and interaction design with a data-informed mindset, using experimentation and customer insight to understand what works and continuously improve the experience.

You don’t need prior experience in a dedicated Growth team. We’re interested in designers who are curious about customer behavior, comfortable using data to inform their decisions, and excited by the opportunity to apply exceptional craft to high-impact customer journeys.

šŸ”‘ You’ll play a key role by...

  • Leading the design of high-quality web experiences that help new and existing customers discover the value Monzo can bring to their financial lives.
  • Using quantitative and qualitative data to identify opportunities, understand customer behavior, and make informed design decisions.
  • Turning customer and business problems into clear hypotheses, designing experiments, and using what you learn to shape future work.
  • Bringing exceptional visual and interaction craft to our web experiences, creating work that feels unmistakably Monzo while driving meaningful customer and commercial outcomes.
  • Tackling complex and ambiguous design challenges, balancing customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints to create simple, effective experiences.
  • Defining compelling product visions and direction, helping teams think beyond individual experiments toward a coherent long-term customer experience.
  • Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Research throughout the design process, bringing people together around customer problems and opportunities.
  • Using AI to level-up parts of your design workflow, whether that’s ideation, analysis, prototyping, or shipping production code.
  • Taking a pragmatic approach to experimentation—moving quickly when necessary to learn, while knowing when an experience needs a higher level of craft and polish.
  • Acting as a role model in Design, sharing your work broadly, mentoring others, and contributing to the growth and success of the wider Design team.

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if...

  • You have a proven track record of designing high-quality web experiences, with a portfolio demonstrating strong visual and interaction design craft.
  • You’re comfortable using data to inform your design decisions, partnering with Data Scientists or Analysts to understand customer behavior and measure the impact of your work.
  • You can connect great customer experiences with measurable outcomes and understand how design contributes to wider product and commercial goals.
  • You’re comfortable forming hypotheses, experimenting with different approaches, and adapting your thinking as you learn.
  • You can balance speed and experimentation with a high bar for craft, knowing when to prototype quickly and when to invest in creating an exceptional final experience.
  • You’re a natural collaborator who can bring together Product, Engineering, Data, Research, and other partners around complex customer problems.
  • You thrive in ambiguity and can create clarity and direction when the answer isn’t immediately obvious.
  • You’re comfortable thinking beyond an individual screen or experiment, connecting work across journeys and helping shape a longer-term vision.
  • You’re a role model who actively contributes to the growth of the Design team through mentoring, feedback, and sharing your expertise.
  • You’re excited about Monzo’s mission to make money work for everyone and the opportunity to help more people discover the value of Monzo.

Monzo is a fully licensed digital bank that operates entirely through a smartphone app, with no physical branches. It was one of the first 'challenger banks' in the UK designed to replace traditional high street banks. Monzo became famous for its transparency and ease of use—giving users instant notifications the second they buy a coffee, categorizing spending automatically, and offering fee-free spending abroad. It started as a prepaid card (originally called 'Mondo') but is now a full-fledged bank with over 9 million customers, known for its friendly tone and community-driven approach.
