About the Role
As a Senior Game Mathematician, you will create mathematical models for high-quality, mobile-optimised online casino games and analyse them from a mathematical balancing and design perspective. You will own the end-to-end mathematical design process for complex titles, ensuring models deliver the right player experience while meeting commercial goals.
You will work closely with Product Owners, Game Designers, Game Developers, QA, Artists and the Commercial Team to develop innovative games and mathematically sound slot mechanics. You will also use sophisticated simulation and quantitative analysis to validate models and identify opportunities in the market.
The role is hybrid in London or Warsaw, with a negotiable salary depending on experience. While there is currently no people management responsibility, the role may grow to include managing and developing a small team of junior mathematicians.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end mathematical design process for high-complexity titles, ensuring models deliver optimal player experience across volatility, hit frequency and RTP while meeting commercial goals.
- Drive the conceptualisation and development of novel and unique slot mechanics.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners and Game Designers to translate creative concepts into mathematically sound and balanced frameworks.
- Develop, maintain and utilise sophisticated Monte Carlo simulation tools to rigorously test, validate and optimise game models before production.
- Create comprehensive, auditable mathematical documentation and technical specifications for all game models.
- Ensure mathematical documentation and technical specifications meet rigorous internal standards and external regulatory requirements for all target markets.
- In the future, potentially manage a small team of more junior mathematicians, guiding them on their games and helping them develop into excellent Mathematicians in their own right.
- Partner with Developers, QA, Artists and Product Owners to ensure flawless integration of the mathematical model into the final game.
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support throughout the development lifecycle.
- Conduct deep quantitative analysis of competitor games and market trends to identify opportunities for new mathematical features.
- Use competitor and market analysis to help ensure the game portfolio remains competitive and cutting-edge.
Requirements
- Solid experience in slot game mathematics.
- Good knowledge of Combinatorics, Probability Theory and Quantitative Analysis.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Good knowledge of programming.
- University Degree in Mathematics or another numerate discipline such as Statistics, Physics or Engineering.
Nice to Have
- Experience of team management or mentoring.
- OOP experience.
- Interest in playing slots.
- Knowledge of game trends.
- Knowledge of Java.
