About the Role

In this role, you will help design, build, and enhance an AI-powered education platform, taking ownership from concept through delivery. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teammates to create user-focused features, using customer insights and product data to influence what gets built rather than simply implementing predefined requirements.

You'll thrive in an environment that values initiative, practical problem-solving, and high-quality engineering, with the opportunity to contribute across multiple areas of the product as business needs evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Develop full-stack features on a Ruby on Rails application.
  • Use AI tooling, including Claude and Codex, throughout the development lifecycle for planning, prototyping, code generation, and cross-model code review.
  • Participate in AI-assisted code review workflows before code enters the deployment pipeline.
  • Speak with customers to understand requirements and product needs.
  • Review product usage data and metrics to inform development decisions.
  • Prioritise features and determine what should be built without dedicated product managers.
  • Prototype new features with strong product and UX judgement.
  • Build across both front-end and back-end components using a traditional Rails monolith with HTML, CSS, Hotwire, and light JavaScript.
  • Implement user interfaces to a near pixel-perfect standard from design systems and components.
  • Move across projects as business priorities require.
  • Contribute as an independent, self-starting engineer while collaborating closely with the wider engineering team and designers.
  • Help define solutions through customer insight and data rather than simply executing predefined tickets.
  • Deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment while maintaining engineering rigour through AI and human code review processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience developing full-stack applications using Ruby on Rails.
  • 3+ years' experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the Hotwire stack.
  • 3+ years' solid working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
  • 2+ years' hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering tools, including Claude, Codex, or orchestrating AI agents across the development lifecycle. Strong experience with other coding-agent tooling (e.g. Cursor, Copilot Workspace) is also acceptable for candidates who can rapidly adopt the required tooling.
  • 2+ years' experience demonstrating strong product sense and UX judgement, with the ability to implement near pixel-perfect user interfaces without full designer handoff.
  • 2+ years' working knowledge of AWS S3 and CloudFront. Equivalent object storage and CDN experience on another cloud provider is acceptable.
  • 3+ years' working knowledge of CI/CD using GitHub Actions. Experience with another CI/CD platform such as GitLab CI or CircleCI is also acceptable.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to AWS EC2 and Elastic Beanstalk. This is not required on day one, as applications are being migrated to AWS.
  • Experience within the Education or EdTech domain.
  • Strong product instincts gained in any industry or vertical.

Benefits

  • Fixed Shifts: 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM PKT (Summer) | 12:30 PM - 10:00 PM PKT (Winter)
  • No Weekend Work: Real work-life balance, not just words
  • Day 1 Benefits: Laptop and assets provided
  • Support That Matters: Mentorship, community, and forums where ideas are shared
  • True Belonging: A long-term career where your contributions are valued
