Senior Associate, Strategy & Market Intelligence

Role Overview

In this role, you’ll work directly with our CEO to help determine in whom, what, where, when, and why Learneo invests. You will research and recommend potential investments across categories, asset classes, and deal types. You’ll do the deep research behind those decisions and turn it into a clear view on where our capital should go. We believe AI is reshaping most of the economy, and the biggest opportunities are still ahead. We have a close-up view of how fast it’s moving and where it’s headed, and we want someone who sees the same opportunity and wants to help us get there early.

This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role for someone with the ambition and work ethic to become a world-class investor. You’ll drive the entire process, including recommending investment themes, creating market maps, deep dives, sourcing, analyzing, diligencing, and recommending specific investments. This role will have direct access to the CEO, minimal bureaucracy, and real influence over how our capital is allocated. It’s a rare chance to help shape an investment strategy, not just execute one.

Here are some ways you’ll make an impact!

• Develop Learneo’s perspective on where to invest: researching, sizing, and stress-testing potential investment themes across emerging categories, verticals, and asset classes
• Run rigorous quantitative and qualitative market mapping and benchmarking exercises, forming a clear thesis on competitive dynamics, market structure, and where value is being created
• Conduct deep-dive investigations into companies, business models, and competitive landscapes, going beyond surface-level research to surface non-obvious insights
• Track market trends and industry signals across technology and adjacent sectors, helping Learneo stay ahead of shifts relevant to its strategic direction
• Source and own outreach with target companies and founders, and build systems for tracking companies and knowing when to engage
• Form and present recommendations to senior leadership in a clear, answer-first format that enables fast, confident decision-making
• Help build Learneo’s market intelligence function from the ground up, including building scorecard criteria and a repeatable evaluation process for investment and acquisition decisions

Are you our Senior Associate, Strategy & Market Intelligence?

• 3+ years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, management consulting, hedge fund analysis, or an early-stage startup, backgrounds where forming and defending a view under pressure is the job
• A genuine, intrinsic passion and curiosity for investing and how companies create value
• Demonstrated ability to build a well-reasoned point of view on an unfamiliar market, from scoping the research question to delivering a clear, evidence-backed conclusion
• Strong independent judgment; able to form a confident thesis from ambiguous or incomplete information, and defend it clearly when challenged
• Gets up to speed quickly in new domains; intellectually curious and comfortable operating without a pre-existing framework or subject matter expertise
• Advanced ability to translate quantitative and qualitative research into concise, actionable recommendations for senior audiences
• Strong business, financial, and economic literacy; comfort reading cap tables, investor memos, and market data as primary sources

Bonus Points

• A point of view on how AI is reshaping specific industries or business models
• Experience conducting primary research (expert interviews, founder calls, customer discovery) alongside secondary research
• Familiarity with deal flow, market mapping, or investment memo writing
• Proficient in analytics or data tools (Pitchbook, CB Insights, or similar)
• Founder experience, especially having sold a business into or worked at a serial acquirer platform
