You will also support the month-end close by preparing reconciliations, maintaining supporting schedules, and organizing documentation for the accounting team.

You will collaborate closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to obtain approvals, resolve transaction questions, and ensure smooth information flow. Strong attention to detail, dependable follow-through, and the ability to manage workflows independently while recognizing issues requiring review are essential.

Liquid Death is an AI-forward company, utilizing approved tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini to streamline recurring tasks. You will help identify ways to simplify routine tasks while adhering to company requirements for accuracy, confidentiality, and financial controls.

What You’ll Do

Keep accounts payable running smoothly

  • Maintain accurate vendor records, including new vendor setup, approved changes, tax forms, and documentation for 1099 reporting.
  • Process vendor invoices and credits in Tipalti, ensuring complete documentation, appropriate coding, required approvals, and avoiding duplicate submissions.
  • Partner with Operations, Sales, and Marketing to obtain timely invoice reviews, approvals, and supporting information.
  • Prepare payment batches and supporting documentation for review and approval in accordance with established controls.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries, research invoice and payment discrepancies, and follow through on outstanding credits and balances.
  • Prepare AP aging reports and flag overdue items, missing approvals, and other issues requiring follow-up.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and assist with AP subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations, escalating unresolved differences.

Support accounting records and month-end close

  • Complete assigned transaction processing and close-support tasks within established deadlines.
  • Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for payables, prepaid expenses, and other assigned accounting activities.
  • Identify unpaid invoices and gather information to support the accounting team’s preparation of month-end accruals.
  • Prepare routine journal entries using established templates and procedures for review and approval by the accounting team.
  • Verify account coding and transaction dates against established guidelines, escalating unusual or unclear items.
  • Research reconciling differences and help resolve missing, incomplete, or inaccurate transaction records.

Maintain organized records and follow established controls

  • Keep invoices, approvals, payment records, reconciliations, and other supporting documents complete and accessible.
  • Review transaction reports for missing information, duplicate entries, and other potential errors.
  • Retrieve records and prepare supporting documentation for audit, tax, and other accounting requests under the accounting team’s direction.
  • Follow established approval procedures and financial controls, promptly flagging exceptions or discrepancies.
  • Handle confidential vendor, payment, and business information with discretion.

Improve how the work gets done

  • Identify practical ways to improve data accuracy, simplify routine reconciliations, and reduce manual work.
  • Assist with testing accounting system updates and changes to established workflows.
  • Support responsible use of approved automation and AI tools, verifying outputs before use.
  • Maintain clear process documentation and provide backup support for related accounting tasks as needed.

Qualifications Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least 3 years of relatable accounting operations, bookkeeping, or related experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on accounts payable experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable processes, debits and credits, account coding, reconciliations, and basic accrual concepts required.
  • Experience using an ERP or accounting system; NetSuite and Tipalti experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets, including sorting, filtering, formulas, and lookup functions; familiarity with pivot tables preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to process transactions accurately while managing competing deadlines.
  • Experience researching invoice, payment, and account discrepancies and following issues through to resolution.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management experience with adaptability to work in a high-change, continuous improvement-focused environment with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • The ability to work independently within established procedures and recognize when an issue requires escalation.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with vendors and internal partners.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new systems and improve established processes.
  • Uses discretion and integrity when handling confidential financial and business information.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
