About 1Password: 1Password (1password.com) is a globally celebrated cybersecurity giant, trusted by more than 180,000 enterprises—ranging from high-velocity AI startups to the world’s most prestigious Fortune 100 corporate organizations—to safeguard corporate identities, applications, and endpoint devices. Having broken past $400M in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and proudly claiming a multi-year standing on the iconic Forbes Cloud 100 list, we have innovated the market-leading enterprise credential manager and pioneered Unified Access Management. As a foundational powerhouse inside Canada’s Team True North, we combine human-centric product design with cutting-edge engineering to secure millions of global users.

Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptionally articulate, technically analytical, and relationship-driven Sales Engineer to join our global commercial growth team under a permanent, full-time remote engagement framework within the United Kingdom. Operating as the primary technical advisor for our Small and Medium Business (SMB) commercial segments, you will step up to claim direct pre-sales architecture, product capability demonstration, and cross-functional proof-of-concept (POC) management accountability to accelerate transaction velocity and secure regional revenue expansion. Shifting completely away from routine back-office data entry logs, non-technical customer service ticketing, or low-stakes promotional copywriting, you will run an active system discovery, security infrastructure mapping, and data-driven qualification laboratory—partnering face-to-face with SMB Account Executives, IT administrators, DevSecOps leads, corporate platform engineers, and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs). This position requires a customer-facing technical expert with 2+ years of experience who structures software value loops fluidly natively using Sales Representative frameworks, evaluates customer identity access configurations cleanly across complex cloud networks, and directs technical risk assessments confidently to defeat enterprise security bottlenecks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary Technical Advisor Ownership: Partner directly with regional Account Executives throughout the SMB commercial sales cycle, delivering scalable, high-impact technical validation and closing strategy support.
  • Integrated Solution Demonstrations: Position and configure interactive, multi-product solutions spanning Extended Privilege Management (EPM), SaaS Manager, and Device Trust, demonstrating their integrated power to reduce corporate risk natively utilizing Sales Representative consultative tools.
  • Technical Discovery Architecture: Conduct deep-dive operational discovery loops with client-side stakeholders (IT admins, security engineers, and infrastructure developers), uncovering critical points of friction around privileged access, shadow IT apps, and machine-token credentials.
  • Proof-of-Concept (POC) Governance: Design, monitor, and guide technical proof-of-concept evaluations to validate customer success parameters, focusing heavily on secrets automation, developer environments, and cloud-native workloads.
  • Competitive Value Positioning: Handle high-velocity competitive engagements involving traditional PAM providers or developer-centric secrets managers, clearly highlighting 1Password’s enterprise-grade strength combined with zero corporate complexity.
  • Compliance and Security Questionnaire Triage: Formulate, audit, and deliver precise technical responses for vendor risk assessments, security certifications, RFPs/RFIs, and compliance alignment templates (such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR).

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of verified professional history operating in a technical customer-facing engineering, pre-sales consultancy, or software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution advisor capacity.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling strengths in English, with a natural ability to translate intricate cryptographic or system architectures into simple, commercially relevant solutions for non-technical buyers.
  • Solid foundational comprehension of modern enterprise security parameters, including credential management, identity directory provisioning (SSO, SCIM, OAuth/OIDC), and endpoint management nodes.
  • Comfortable navigating developer-centric conversation layers, demonstrating practical knowledge of how engineering squads handle tokens in CI/CD channels (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) or container systems (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong personal time management capabilities, showing a high sense of professional ownership and agility inside high-volume, transaction-driven corporate environments.
  • Mandatory Onboarding Track: Must be fully available to travel internationally for an extensive, immersive in-person corporate onboarding curriculum held at our technology hub in Toronto, Canada.
  • Location Context: Position features 100% remote parameters open exclusively to qualified technical sales engineers residing permanently within the United Kingdom.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Direct development or integration familiarity connecting password vault assets with automated builder systems (GitHub Actions, Zapier, n8n, Make).
  • Applied history using modern corporate sales qualification methodologies, particularly the MEDDPICC framework.
  • Prior familiarity navigating endpoint or mobile device management architectures (such as Jamf, Intune, or CrowdStrike).

What We Offer

  • Vetted, UK Market-Calibrated Compensation Blueprint: A competitive baseline annual salary ranging between £48,000 GBP and £67,000 GBP, augmented by a lucrative, uncapped commission eligibility structure.
  • Full geographic work-from-home remote flexibility within the UK, backed by a collaborative, low-micromanagement global team infrastructure.
  • Immediate participation in 1Password’s premium benefits program, encompassing private healthcare provisions, competitive dental lines, and an integrated corporate pension matching scheme.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) allocations, paid community volunteer days, and peer-to-peer bonus allocations through Bonusly.
  • A free enterprise-tier 1Password account for your personal home network alongside robust RSU equity grant options for most full-time contributors.
  • Fully funded travel allocations to participate in high-energy global company-wide offsite retreats, team synchronization events, and key industry conferences.
