About the Role
As a Quality Engineer Analyst, you will be passionate about delivering exceptional software quality through automation-led testing, supported by strong manual expertise. You will contribute to a Testing as a Service (TAAS) offering, working closely with external client partners on Connected TV and Set Top Box projects.
You will work closely with the Service Delivery Manager and wider engineering function. You will independently define robust test strategies, write high-quality manual and automated test cases, and deliver comprehensive coverage across multiple concurrent projects. This is an automation-first role, while manual testing remains essential for scenarios less suited to automation.
You will write TypeScript code to a good standard, contribute to scalable automated test suites, challenge quality standards, improve processes, and represent a strong commitment to quality across internal releases and client deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive testing activities across the full software delivery lifecycle, including requirement analysis and test strategy definition.
- Perform manual test execution and exploratory validation.
- Execute automated testing and maintain regression coverage.
- Investigate, report, and prioritise defects.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test suites written in TypeScript.
- Take accountability for ensuring quality standards are upheld across functional, UX, performance, and platform-specific requirements.
- Produce and maintain robust test plans and test case suites.
- Produce and maintain a structured and maintainable manual test pack to support release and client validation.
- Produce comprehensive test reports tailored to client requirements.
- Deliver high-quality testing outcomes for Testing as a Service (TAAS) clients, ensuring applications meet both business and customer expectations.
- Operate confidently across multiple external client projects, managing competing priorities while maintaining consistent delivery excellence.
- Act as a trusted quality partner to internal and external stakeholders, communicating clearly on testing progress and risks.
- Communicate clearly on automation maturity and coverage.
- Communicate clearly on defect impact and resolution support.
- Communicate clearly on release readiness and go/no-go confidence.
- Represent quality standards professionally within client-facing environments.
- Support Smart TV and connected device setup and troubleshooting.
- Support test environment readiness and reliability.
- Support Connected TV lab uptime and process improvement.
- Debug complex cross-device issues.
- Drive increased automation coverage across current and future projects, identifying opportunities for efficiency and scalability.
- Work closely with QE engineers and developers to embed automation into CI/CD workflows and release pipelines.
Requirements
- Strong professional experience in software testing, with a focus on quality engineering and automation-led delivery.
- Proven ability to develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites within a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Ability to write code to a good standard in TypeScript and contribute to the development and execution of scalable automated test suites.
- Experience applying a programming language within automation frameworks.
- Solid understanding of debugging principles.
- Experience testing APIs and using relevant tooling.
- Strong knowledge of version control workflows, such as Git, and collaborative development practices.
- Experience with CI/CD workflows and pipelines.
- Excellent understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and the role QE plays in modern delivery teams.
- Experience with issue-tracking tools such as GitLab, Qase, or Jira.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to debug issues across devices and environments.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and operate effectively in client-facing delivery contexts.
- Comfortable managing priorities across multiple concurrent projects and service engagements.
- Ability to collaborate in Agile ceremonies, including refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, providing test insights, estimating effort, and influencing team decisions around quality.
Nice to Have
- TypeScript as the programming language used within automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of Gherkin.
