Design Engineer (Product-Focused, Frontend-Leaning/UX) at ElevenLabs

About the Role

ElevenLabs is seeking Design Engineers (product-focused, Frontend-leaning/UX) to develop and maintain their Creative & Studio products, including Image/Video, Flows, Agentic Creation, Audiobooks, and Music/Studio features. You will also mentor less experienced Frontend-leaning engineers.

General Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining products and platforms on top of cutting-edge voice models used by millions.
• Setting standards for AI interfaces, including UX/UI workflows and development roadmaps for Creative Platform, Image Generation, and GenAI.
• Taking ownership of end-to-end feature development across the full stack of Creative products, including setting feature and product direction.
• Collaborating with Engineering, Growth, and Sales teams to solve critical customer and internal workflow problems.

Specific Responsibilities

• Scoping and building new proof-of-concept products, sometimes with partner customers, for potential market scaling.
• Improving existing products to ensure they are intuitive, powerful, and innovative, including UX changes, functionality additions, and integrations.
• Collaborating with Design, Engineering, and Growth teams to ensure cohesive end-to-end web experiences.
• Executing and iterating on designs based on user feedback and best practices.
• Maintaining and strengthening internal infrastructure to ensure product performance, security, and scalability.
• Working with massive-scale datasets to support next-generation voice models in generative AI.

Requirements

ElevenLabs does not require formal experience, certifications, or degrees. Instead, they seek enthusiastic software engineers who can demonstrate solving complex problems through past projects, designs, or GitHub contributions.

Required:

• Frontend Engineer experience with a focus on design, proficient in Next.js, React, and design libraries like Shadcn, Framer Motion, or D3.
• Experience with Web Development using TypeScript/React.
• A portfolio showcasing web projects and compelling web experiences, with a preference for personal branding.
• Familiarity with software and system design patterns, APIs, cloud infrastructure, storage solutions, and data structures.

Bonus: Experience building media or creative products for enterprise customers.
