Online Notary Public (Independent Contractor) - Remote

The Role

LawDepot is expanding and seeking an Online Notary Public to perform remote, online notarizations for our U.S.-based website users. This independent contractor role is fully remote, with shifts available during weekdays (1–6 p.m.) and weekends (9 a.m.–6 p.m.).

You will be responsible for completing notarizations, verifying document authenticity, and providing feedback to improve our platform. Compensation ranges from $5.00–8.00 for the first notarial act and $2.00–4.00 for each additional act. Notaries may also earn $5.00 per session as a witness.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete notarization of customer documents remotely
• Verify authenticity of documents and signer identity per state requirements
• Explain the notarization process to customers professionally
• Administer acknowledgement and jurat notarial acts
• Record notarizations in a digital notary journal as required by law
• Certify signature authenticity on legal documents
• Serve as a witness for other notaries’ sessions when needed
• Test platform features and report bugs/improvements
• Manage customer communication via internal portal
• Maintain state-mandated certification
• Assist with testing and quality assurance

Requirements

• More than 6 months of experience as a Remote Online Notary Public
• Valid Electronic Notary Public certification in Virginia
• Commissioned Notary Public in Virginia
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
• Technical proficiency with internal tools and software
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Minimum $25,000 error and omission (E&O) insurance coverage
• Access to a desktop/laptop, webcam, microphone, and high-speed internet
