Our Internal Communications teamâ
Youâre creative, with a passion for great communication. Youâre productive and reliable, able to pro-actively plan, manage and own core operational work and project tasks within the Internal Comms team.
Youâre collaborative, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, work quickly without dropping quality, and build great relationships across the business. You know how to make sense of data to see how our comms are landing, spotting opportunities to tweak and improve how we do things. You balance technical detail with the bigger picture, making sure our messaging stays consistent, compliant and strategic.
đ Youâll play a key role by...
- Partner with stakeholders across the businessâespecially People Team and Operationsâto understand key changes, offer sound comms advice, and independently deliver targeted comms plans using our tone of voice.
- Support more high-visibility, company-wide projects and campaigns, partnering with the Internal Comms Lead to deliver plans and manage rollouts.
- Own specific actions or the overall plan for team goals and projects. Represent internal comms in project groups, making sure messaging lands smoothly, at the right time so everyone understands their role.
- Manage everyday comms requests into our channel efficiently, matching messages to the right audiences across Monzo and Global Teams and delegating or triaging to others in the team as appropriate.
- Keep our Internal Comms tracker up to date so we have a clear view of whatâs happening and when. Work with stakeholders so they flag requests early and keep things running smoothly.
- Use data to see whatâs working and help stakeholders measure their success, as well as demonstrate the value we add as a Comms Team.
- Work with the Space & Community team to brainstorm and support company engagement initiatives and events: from fun virtual campaigns to recognition.
- Run workshops and build bitesize guides to share comms tips and tricks with team leads and managers. Create on-brand visuals and smart Google Slides decks, including templates to share with wider teams.
- Keep processes simple, clear, and up to date, making sure everything we send out is compliant with data privacy and security rules while still feeling uniquely Monzo.
𤊠Weâd love to hear from you if...
- 2â3 years of comms experience or a role where youâve needed to engage and/or communicate regularly with different groups of people, with an understanding of best-practice channels and approach.
- You can pull clear, engaging copy together quickly and accurately, setting a high bar for our tone of voice, spelling, and grammar across Monzo.
- Proficient in using comms tools; comfortable pulling data to spot trends, measure success, and figure out whatâs landing well and why.
- A self-starter who works well independently under pressure, unblocks themselves when stuck, and knows when to ask for guidance on complex issues.
- Confident talking to people at all levels. Youâre comfortable giving constructive feedback to teammates and actively ask for feedback on your own work to make it even better.
- You naturally look out for minor problems or gaps in how the team operates and work with others to fix them.
- High emotional intelligence, a real buzz for helping others land great comms, and enthusiasm for celebrating team wins across Monzo.
Impact and Ownership
- Operational impact: Delivering internal comms operations and projects, scoping and delivering actions towards squad goals, and proactively identifying improvement opportunities to boost efficiency.
- Audience expertise: Has an in-depth understanding of the Ops audience and uses that insight to better Monzoâs comms work.
- Budgeting: Taking ownership of budget management and cost control when needed for your projects, e.g., recognition and engagement initiatives.
- Using systems & data: Able to work with our systems like Slack, Notion, Google Meet, etc., pulling and using data to support measurement of key initiatives and to drive awareness of the value added by Internal Comms.
- Collaboration: Working independently on BAU tasks while collaborating with others to solve ambiguous or unexpected requirements.
- Gives feedback: Giving direct, actionable feedback to teammates, accepting feedback thoughtfully, and proactively communicating work progress or managing upwards to unblock your progress.
- Documentation: Proactively documenting all new and existing comms approaches and processes and role-modelling how we store our documents and work.
- Constructive challenge: Proactively identifies outdated comms practices, proposing clear, actionable alternatives to improve how we communicate.
- Relationship building: Builds trusted relationships with Ops leaders, offering sound guidance on timing, channel, and message framing to shape day-to-day decisions.
