About Motive: Motive empowers the people who run physical operations with tools to make their work safer, more productive, and more profitable. For the first time ever, safety, operations, and finance teams can manage their drivers, vehicles, equipment, and fleet-related spend in a single system. Combined with industry-leading AI, the Motive platform gives nearly 100,000 customers—from Fortune 500 enterprises to small businesses—complete visibility and control over their physical assets. We serve a wide range of sectors, including transportation and logistics, construction, energy, field service, manufacturing, agriculture, food and beverage, retail, and the public sector, by automating and simplifying heavy operational workloads.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on, and process-oriented Installations Specialist to manage the deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of our IoT fleet tracking devices under a flexible remote arrangement based in Mexico. Operating as an essential technical anchor within our global Field Engineering and deployment support ecosystem, you will take full ownership of physical hardware integration—including advanced gateways, AI dashcams, and specialty vehicle accessories. Shifting completely away from repetitive non-regulated administrative data transcription loops, entry-level styling fixes, or general phone customer service queues, you will operate a high-impact multi-vehicle electrical configuration, fleet quality auditing, and technical troubleshooting sandbox. This role balances exceptional field execution with strategic alignment, requiring extensive domestic and regional travel up to 50–75% of the time annually. This position requires an operational professional who handles complex asset systems fluidly natively using Electrical Engineering, Technical Support, and Technical Writer primitives, interprets intricate wiring topologies accurately, and optimizes field deployment quality independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Deployment & Field Infrastructure Governance: Perform independent and collaborative on-site installations of Motive’s core product suite, integrating AI-enabled cameras and telematics gateways across diverse vehicle arrays natively utilizing Electrical Engineering standards.
- On-Site Technical Engagement: Serve as the premier lead presence during strategic client pilot rollouts, managing localized device trials, validating field performance, and conducting interactive customer system orientations.
- Third-Party Quality Assurance Control: Oversee field installation programs by performing on-site quality spot-checks of contractor technicians and auditing operational records to guarantee compliance with company baselines.
- Technical Support Escalation Triage: Review and resolve escalated device malfunction reports, tracking RMAs and providing expert remote assistance to third-party providers experiencing installation blocks natively deploying Technical Support baselines.
- Custom Configuration Documentation: Author, format, and maintain high-relevance custom installation guides, system block diagrams, and wiring logs for unique specialty vehicle setups natively leveraging Technical Writer workflows.
- Product R&D Feedback Synthesis: Collaborate close-knit next to core Field Engineering and Product cells, translating real-world asset behaviors and field limitations into actionable product enhancements.
- Field Logistics Risk Mitigation: Manage active field operations, verifying data transfer metrics, diagnosing communication loops, and unblocking equipment paths independently to protect project timelines.
- Physical Operational Execution: Maintain the physical agility required to lift objects up to 50 lbs, climb access ladders, and safely navigate cramped vehicle dashboard layouts or confined industrial asset spaces.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Possess a minimum of a High School Diploma, GED, or a matching quantitative practical technical background (a trade school certification in automotive electronics or electrical layout is highly preferred).
- Demonstrated technical tracking history implementing, repairing, or servicing mobile electronic equipment, commercial telematics, or multi-tenant aftermarket electronics at scale.
- Expert Electrical and Blueprint Command: Meticulous hands-on experience navigating vehicle electrical systems, diagnosing 12V/24V circuits, and reading complex automotive wiring documentation with absolute precision.
- Possess a valid vehicle driver’s license alongside an immaculate, clean professional driving track record.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and textual presentation communication strengths in English, with an established background delivering scannable tool runs and training corporate client operators.
- Travel Availability & Regulatory Compliance: Full freedom and readiness to travel extensively between 50–75% of the year, alongside complete authorization to access and handle technologies controlled under U.S. Export Administration Regulations.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote field parameters open exclusively to qualified automotive technology and fleet systems implementation authorities residing permanently within Mexico.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior platform or operations history deploying hardware components explicitly inside the commercial transportation, heavy logistics, construction equipment, energy utility fleets, or IoT hardware sectors.
- Direct operational familiarity utilizing multi-monitor diagnostic systems, advanced automotive scan tools, or software-defined calibration suites.
- An adaptable, customer-focused persona characterized by deep technical judgment, strong critical thinking capabilities, and an uncompromised passion for leveraging AI technology to solve complex real-world physical challenges.
What We Offer
- Premium Mexico Automotive Tech & Engineering Remuneration Matrix: A highly competitive contract monthly base salary scale calibrated precisely to your individual systems pedigree and mechanical deployment velocity, backed by prominent tier-one global operations assets.
- Flexible remote workspace architecture autonomy open throughout Mexico, bypassing traditional localized office boundaries while delivering high-impact field transformations.
- Front-Row Fleets Modernization Footprint: Elite professional growth checkpoints achieved by single-handedly blueprinting the hardware interfaces, custom wiring rules, and quality check systems securing millions of physical operational miles globally.
- Comprehensive health preservation benefits, localized insurance choices, and specialized employee support frameworks configured seamlessly to local standards.
- Access to an outstanding international tech and physical operations community, equal opportunity career path advancement initiatives, and an innovative, high-velocity startup culture built for absolute lifelong technical mastery.
