Amperos is healthcare's first AI-native denial management and revenue recovery platform. Our agentic AI handles claims end-to-end, from portal follow-ups and payer calls to appeals and medical records, enabling providers to resolve more denials, recover more revenue, and focus on patient care.

Amperos recently secured a $16M Series A funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with continued participation from Uncork Capital and Neo. The company is still small, early-stage, and tackling a $260B+ problem in healthcare revenue recovery.

About the Role

Amperos is seeking an HR & People Operations Lead to establish and manage the people function for their India team. Currently, the team is supported by a mix of US leadership and goodwill, but the company is now ready to scale.

This is a ground-up role. Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting & Offers:
    • Collaborate with hiring managers to define roles and coordinate sourcing, screening, and interview scheduling.
    • Conduct background checks, prepare and send offer letters, and manage candidate negotiations within approved salary bands.
    • Track hiring pipelines and maintain complete documentation.
  • Onboarding:
    • Oversee the entire new hire experience from offer acceptance through the first 90 days, ensuring all new hires have access, equipment, and a clear plan.
    • Coordinate access provisioning and confirm completion of HIPAA, data security, and acceptable use training.
    • Collect and maintain employee documentation in the company platform.
    • Conduct structured 30/60/90-day check-ins with new hires and relay feedback to their managers.
  • Employee Engagement:
    • Build and execute a regular engagement cadence, including pulse checks, skip-levels, stay conversations, and exit interviews, reporting themes to leadership.
    • Manage India holidays, leave, attendance, and coverage policies, including public holiday pay, disaster and unforeseen absence, and equipment outage policies.
    • Draft and implement missing people policies such as leave, appraisal and salary bands, behavioral and conduct policies, ensuring consistent application across teams.
    • Support managers with documentation, performance conversations, and corrective actions, ensuring feedback is written and follows a clear escalation path.
  • Payroll & Compliance:
    • Administer monthly payroll, resolve discrepancies, and process offboardings and final settlements.
    • Maintain knowledge of Indian labor law, including the Shops and Establishments Act, EPF, ESI, and income tax, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
    • Keep all employee and payroll data confidential, organized, and audit-ready.

What We're Looking For

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years in HR operations, people operations, or HR generalist roles, specifically supporting an India-based team with hands-on experience in payroll and onboarding.
  • Working knowledge of Indian labor law and statutory compliance, including EPF, ESI, tax withholding, and the Shops and Establishments Act.
  • Experience building HR processes or policies from scratch, not just administering mature systems.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Comfortable being the primary point of contact for employees and able to provide constructive feedback to managers.
  • Strong attention to detail with numerical and compliance data, ensuring nothing is overlooked.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations discreetly.
  • Proficient with HRIS and payroll platforms, particularly Deel, Excel/Sheets, and documentation tools like Notion and Google Drive.
  • Able to overlap with US Eastern hours for part of the day.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience supporting a remote or distributed team managed from the US.
  • Background in healthcare, revenue cycle management (RCM), or BPO/KPO operations.
  • Experience with recruiting and screening tools like Ashby or Checkr.
  • Experience running engagement surveys or building an onboarding program from scratch.

Our Values

  • Lead with Empathy – Build great products and teams by understanding the challenges, needs, and perspectives of customers, users, and team members.
  • Humbly Ambitious – Combine humility with ambition, tackle any task, and learn from failures while taking bold risks.
  • Radical Agency – Own your domain, drive initiatives with autonomy and accountability, and maintain a bias for action.
