About the role
As our HRBP supporting the Commercial function — Sales, Customer Success, Service, Commercial Operations, Partnerships and Business Development — you'll partner directly with managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle. This role requires working North American business hours (PST Preferred).
You'll be part of a broader HRBP team spanning the US, Canada, and the Philippines, all working together to shape our company’s culture and Future of Work vision. Reporting to the Director, HR Business Partners, you'll bring sound judgment, strong communication, and a bias toward action to the client groups you support. We're looking for someone who's humble yet driven, ownership-oriented, and who can give and receive feedback with grace and authenticity.
What you’ll do
Client Partnership: Partner with Commercial client groups — managers and employees across Sales, Customer Success, Service, Commercial Operations, Partnerships, and Business Development — as a trusted advisor across the full employee lifecycle: team effectiveness, manager coaching, org design, workforce planning and engagement survey action planning
Employee Relations: Support employee relations casework in the Philippines and US — PIP, policy violations, and conflict resolution — partnering with managers to document consistently and reduce legal risk; use sound judgment on when to escalate
Change Management: Support managers and teams through organizational change, helping drive clarity and alignment during transitions
Operational Excellence: Support execution of HR programs — performance cycles, calibrations, engagement survey insights — tailored to Thumbtack's needs
Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze people data to identify trends and translate findings into recommendations for managers and leaders
Culture and Employee Advocacy: Champion Thumbtack's culture and values within your client groups, leading by example
Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with Recruiting, DEI, OD, and Total Rewards to bring integrated People strategies to your client groups
In order to be successful, you must bring
6+ years of experience in HR with HRBP experience
Ability to work North American business hours (PST Preferred)
Strong communication skills and the judgment to build trust and facilitate tough conversations
Experience supporting high-volume frontline or commercial teams (e.g. Sales, Success, Customer Service, Business Development, Commercial Ops) in fast-paced, dynamic environments
Strong knowledge of performance management (including formal documentation like PIPs and NTEs), employee relations, and change management
Comfort supporting employees across multiple geographies, including the Philippines
Data literate — comfortable analyzing people data and translating findings into recommendations
Experience in remote or virtual-first work
Previous experience working in fast-paced, scaling organizations
Experience working in tech companies or a marketplace
Communications background
