Kickstarter is the leading crowdfunding platform for creative projects across film, games, music, art, design, and technology. Since its founding in 2009, its mission to help bring creative projects to life has been powered by the people behind the work.

Together, they’ve helped creators around the world launch creative projects that have generated billions of dollars in pledges. Kickstarter invests in the growth and success of its team, treating employees as whole people and empowering them with autonomy and space to participate in decisions shaping their work and the company.

As Director, Growth & Product Marketing, you’ll own how Kickstarter positions and launches its product, equips its Outreach team, and turns one-off campaign work into repeatable programs. You’ll be the founding leader of this function, building product marketing and go-to-market systems from the ground up to support the global marketplace.

Your mandate is to build systems that make growth scalable: sharp positioning, a tiered portfolio of launch and promotion offerings, and enablement resources that help the Outreach team sell and deliver consistently. You’ll partner closely with Product, Outreach, and the Lifecycle Marketing teams.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll set the foundation for Kickstarter’s marketing and sales model, bringing creativity, analytical rigor, and leadership to the table.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Own product positioning and messaging, translating product capability into clear, compelling value propositions for creators and backers.
  • Develop and run go-to-market strategy for product and feature launches, driving awareness and adoption on both sides of the marketplace.
  • Design, standardize, and own launch and promotion packages: tiered offerings with fixed deliverables that Outreach can sell and marketing can fulfill without custom work.
  • Build and manage sales enablement for the Outreach team: pitch materials, talk tracks, competitive positioning, and training that improve win rates and consistency.
  • Lead demand generation programs that feed the Outreach pipeline, including webinars, open calls, and referral programs.
  • Standardize marketing processes, tools, and briefs to improve efficiency across the team.
  • Define and track performance metrics for product adoption, enablement effectiveness, and launch package delivery, and use them to improve.

About You:

  • You are a proven product marketing leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and has built scalable programs from scratch.
  • You are skilled at translating product capability into audience-facing narrative and positioning.
  • You’re experienced in sales enablement: you’ve equipped a sales team with the content, tools, and training that measurably improved their performance.
  • You are data-driven, with the ability to measure success through KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
  • You are an exceptional cross-functional operator with demonstrated ability to influence across Product, Sales, and Marketing teams.
  • You’re experienced with CRM strategy, marketing automation, and the modern marketing tech stack.

Kickstarter (operating at kickstarter.com) is a global crowdfunding platform engineered for creative entrepreneurship. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York City, Kickstarter revolutionizes how independent creators and artists secure funding for their projects by eliminating traditional barriers to capital. Unlike conventional venture funding or bank loans, Kickstarter operates on a public-benefit model, enabling creators to validate demand and build communities around their work before production begins. Under the hood, the platform leverages a reward-based crowdfunding mechanism, where backers pledge financial support in exchange for early access, exclusive merchandise, or acknowledgment. This allows artists, filmmakers, designers, and musicians to bypass gatekeepers, tap into niche audiences, and launch projects with real-world validation. Backed by historically $10 million in funding, Kickstarter has become the leading ecosystem for creative projects spanning film, music, art, games, and beyond, fostering innovation while maintaining a transparent, mission-driven ethos.
