About Owner

Owner is the AI-native system local business owners use to succeed, starting with restaurants. We’re building the system that replaces the many tools owners use to run their business. It powers everything from the restaurant’s website, online ordering, CRM, POS, and more.

Why we’re looking for you

As the Director, Business Development, you will drive new business initiatives to deliver against sales targets while leading and developing a team of Business Development Managers. In this role, you will develop and execute innovative sales strategies that drive results for both yourself and your team. We’re looking for a proven sales leader with a track record of generating new business, building strong relationships, and closing deals. You will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoy building and leading a high-performing sales organization.

This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

The impact you will have:

  • Build, lead, and develop a world-class team of Business Development Managers.

  • Become an expert in our product and the restaurant industry, enabling you to coach your team to advise restaurant owners with a high degree of trust and credibility.

  • Develop and execute winning sales strategies and plans for yourself and your team.

  • Innovate, confidently present and sell our solution and technology, and continuously refine our approach to the market.

  • Close deals, generate new business, and consistently exceed sales targets.

  • Lead, motivate, and inspire a high-performing sales team while creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Identify opportunities to improve our sales organization and lead projects that strengthen and scale our sales system.

  • Partner effectively with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes.

  • Continuously develop your skills and expertise through reading, podcasts, peer learning, and other forms of professional development.

Minimum requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.

  • Previous second-line management experience in the software industry, preferably within an SMB-focused organization.

  • A demonstrated track record of personal and professional excellence.

  • 5–7+ years of experience leading high-performing Business Development or Sales Development teams.

  • Proven success generating leads, building pipelines, closing business, and consistently achieving or exceeding targets.

  • Advanced sales expertise, including consultative selling, solution-based selling, and negotiation strategies.

  • Strong experience developing, coaching, and mentoring sales teams to achieve peak performance.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and competitive activity to inform strategic decisions.

  • Self-motivated, driven, and resourceful, with experience using a range of channels and tools, including social platforms, to build relationships and expand networks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working in or selling to the restaurant industry is a strong plus.

Unison Home Ownership Investors

View Company Profile

Unison Home Ownership Investors (operating at unison.com) is a financial services platform engineered for homeowners seeking alternative equity solutions. Founded in 2004 by Thomas Sponholtz, who serves as Chairman and CEO, the company offers shared-equity home financing designed to unlock home equity without traditional debt. Unlike conventional mortgages or home equity loans, Unison’s model allows borrowers to access cash while deferring repayment until the home is sold or refinanced, eliminating monthly payments. Under the hood, the company partners with pension funds and university endowments to fund these arrangements, ensuring capital is sourced from institutional investors rather than personal debt. This allows homeowners to tap into their home’s value for immediate liquidity—whether for renovations, education, or emergencies—without the burden of traditional loan obligations. Backed by $443 million in funding, Unison positions itself as a less risky alternative to conventional financing, catering to those who prefer equity-based solutions over debt.
