We are seeking a Clinical Rater (RN, Psychometrist, or Psychometrician) to conduct cognitive and psychometric assessments for groundbreaking Alzheimer’s, Mild Cognitive Impairment, Depression, Anxiety, and Parkinson’s Disease clinical trials.

As part of Headlands Research, a fast-growing network of cutting-edge clinical trial sites, we are committed to improving patient outcomes and advancing medical breakthroughs through innovative research and technology.

We are currently seeking a Part-time (one 8-hour day per week or two 4-hour days per week) experienced Clinical Rater or Psychometrician to perform neurocognitive and psychiatric assessments for adult and geriatric populations in FDA-regulated trials. The ideal candidate has experience administering standardized neurocognitive and psychiatric rating scales such as CDR (Clinical Dementia Rating) and PACC-5 (Preclinical Alzheimer’s Cognitive Composite 5).

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and score study-specific standardized clinical scales and psychometric tests to evaluate cognitive function, disease severity/progression, and study eligibility.
  • Conduct in-person cognitive, diagnostic, and clinical assessments with study participants and caregivers following protocols, GCP, and FDA regulations.
  • Maintain consistency in rating performance over time to ensure accuracy and prevent rater drift.
  • Communicate assessment findings with lead physicians, study sponsors, CROs, and internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all assessments and study-related activities.
  • Identify and report any participant safety concerns or risks per company policy.
  • Offer referrals and resources to study participants and their families when appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree (or higher) in Psychology, Nursing, or a related field
    • OR an RN license with 1+ year of experience administering and evaluating patients using CDR and/or PACC-5 assessments
    • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or a related field with 1+ year of experience delegated as a Rater/Psychometrician/Psychometrist on a clinical trial study.
  • Prior experience conducting cognitive assessments for adult and geriatric populations required.
  • Previous experience as a Clinical Rater, Psychometrist, or Psychometrician in a clinical trial or research setting highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of neurocognitive and psychiatric assessment tools (e.g., CDR, PACC-5, MADRS, HAM-D, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills for working with patients, caregivers, and research teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow study protocols precisely.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

Headlands Research (operating at headlandsresearch.com) is a multinational, integrated clinical trial site organization engineered for accelerating the development of innovative medical therapies. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, Headlands Research specializes in streamlining clinical research operations—a domain traditionally plagued by fragmented site management, regulatory complexity, and inefficiencies. Unlike traditional contract research organizations (CROs) that often operate in silos, Headlands Research consolidates trial execution across multiple therapeutic areas, including Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders, Pain, Respiratory, and general medicine, with a proven track record in high-impact studies like COVID-19 trials. Under the hood, the company leverages a globally integrated network of clinical sites, ensuring standardized protocols, real-time data management, and seamless collaboration between sponsors, investigators, and patients. This allows pharmaceutical companies and biotech firms to accelerate trial timelines, reduce operational costs, and improve patient recruitment and retention. While specific funding details remain proprietary, the company’s acquisition by THL in 2021 underscores its strategic value in the clinical research ecosystem.
