Appian Consultant (DISA)

Horizon Industries Limited (Horizon) is a dynamic IT and Management Consulting firm based in the Washington, DC area, founded in 1996. They provide full-cycle IT Consultant and Management support in both the private and public sectors.

Horizon is seeking an Appian Consultant for a remote full-time position supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This role is committed to your growth and success in the IT software development industry, with a focus on leadership responsibilities in a supportive team environment.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like / Duties:

• Design and develop basic solutions in Appian to meet user requirements.
• Deliver complex development assignments efficiently and comprehensively.
• Increase quality, speed, and overall productivity in Appian development work.

Required Skills:

• 1 to 2 years in software development, preferably with exposure to Appian.
• Understand agile methodologies to deliver working code.
• Ability to work independently and within a small team setting.
• Ability to present to product owners and stakeholders.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as software engineering, engineering, or computer science.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

• Good communication skills.
• Competency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• General knowledge of the assigned support area, including federal government operations, IT solutions, or internal HQ functions.
• Certifications: Appian Level 1 (preferred to be taken within the first month), Agile Certification, and basic SQL (CRUD operations) (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres).
• Ability to map database changes to Appian CDT via XSD.
• Demonstrated ability to follow directions and complete assignments diligently.
• Familiarity with and adherence to project team processes and protocols.
• Understanding of SDLC and deployment cycles.
