Senior System Administrator/Developer

IDEAS is the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Appian-based contract writing system, hosted in the Impact Level 5 Appian Government Cloud with a Data Integration layer in DISA’s Stratus cloud. The Senior System Administrator is a Key Personnel position that owns system administration for IDEAS, keeps the environments patched, secure, and compliant, and serves as the named alternate to the ISSO for STIG, ACAS, and IAVA execution.

Responsibilities

• Own execution of system administration for IDEAS as Key Personnel, directing System Administrator support and coordinating with the Database Administrator and ISSO
• Administer RHEL, Apache HTTP, Oracle Java, and Oracle WebLogic in the Performance, Staging, and Development environments, including system builds and decommissions, user accounts, security groups, and file permissions
• In Staging and Production, administer application-layer components (Appian, Oracle applications, WebLogic) and submit Enterprise Change Requests to the Change Advisory Board and DISA OS, database, and web administration groups
• Test and document security patches for RHEL, Apache, Appian, Java, WebLogic, Oracle Service Bus, Tomcat, and ANT in lower environments using automated scripts, and schedule production deployment through the hosting provider’s Application Service Interruption process
• Serve as the named alternate to the ISSO for STIG checklist reviews, ACAS and HBSS findings, IAVA remediation, and POA&M inputs
• Manage the DoD PKI certificate lifecycle, including certificate signing requests, installation, expiration tracking, Certificate Revocation List updates, and removal of expired or revoked certificates
• Automate log inspection with shell scripting and Splunk, and produce ranked 'worst actor' risk and trend reports
• Keep server application components within two releases of the vendor baseline
• Produce and maintain System Administration documentation, SOPs, System Security Plan inputs, system diagrams, administration and troubleshooting guides, and lists of critical services
• Support the base-year effort to achieve and maintain Authority to Operate

Required Qualifications

1. 10+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux in production
2. 5+ years administering Oracle WebLogic Server
3. Experience patching, tuning, and securing Apache HTTP and Java applications
4. Hands-on DISA STIG implementation, ACAS remediation, and IAVA compliance in a DoD Risk Management Framework environment
5. DoD PKI and SSL/TLS certificate management
6. Bash scripting for automation, and Splunk or a comparable log analysis tool
7. Experience working through formal change control in a government-hosted environment
8. Experience on at least two projects in a large organization administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale application

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle Service Bus and Apache Tomcat administration
• Prior DISA experience, including the Stratus cloud or DISA hosting coordination
• Prior IDEAS support
• eMASS, HBSS/ENS, and IAVA workflow experience
• Familiarity with Appian Cloud administration
• RHCSA or RHCE certification
