VP, Communications at Solana Foundation

The Solana Foundation, a non-profit based in Zug, Switzerland, is dedicated to the adoption, decentralization, and security of the Solana network, a high-performance blockchain delivering fast and secure user experiences.

They are seeking a VP, Communications to shape the global narrative and reputation of the network, balancing the needs of diverse audiences—from developers and founders to institutional investors, policymakers, and media.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and maintain a global narrative for Solana, ensuring defensible claims and eliminating competing messages.
• Build and maintain tier-one media relationships across U.S. business, financial, technology, and crypto-native press.
• Own reputation and issues management, including network incidents, client bugs, and validator disputes, establishing severity tiers, decision-makers, and response protocols.
• Provide executive communications counsel to leadership, including candid feedback.
• Build a bench of credible external technical voices to advocate for Solana independently.
• Support ecosystem teams with launch support, founder media training, and shared narrative infrastructure.
• Translate protocol and governance changes for diverse audiences, from technical participants to non-technical stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Policy and Legal on regulatory and legislative matters.
• Develop a measurement framework focused on narrative accuracy and reputation outcomes.

Ideal Candidate:

• 10 to 15 years in communications, preferably in high-scrutiny environments like regulated industries, platforms under sustained press attention, or companies recovering from crises.
• Experience handling high-pressure situations where facts are unclear and timing is critical.
• Direct relationships with tier-one journalists in business, finance, and technology.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, repeatable messaging for non-technical audiences.
• Track record of earning coverage on hard stories without relying on news hooks.
• Experience operating with influence rather than authority, such as in coalitions or open-source projects.
• Hands-on approach, preferring to draft statements rather than delegate.
• Composure under pressure, a key trait for this role.
• Fluency with AI tooling for monitoring, research, drafting, and message testing.

Bonus: Experience communicating decentralized systems, building comms functions, or offering critical perspectives on crypto communications.
