What You’ll Do:
- Receive, review, and process incoming 811 locate tickets within required response times.
- Coordinate utility locating activities with internal field teams and third-party locating vendors.
- Prioritize emergency and high-impact locate requests to minimize service disruptions and infrastructure damage.
- Maintain accurate records of locate requests, responses, markings, and completed work in tracking systems.
- Monitor ticket volumes, aging, and compliance metrics to ensure SLA adherence.
- Communicate with construction crews, contractors, municipalities, and customers regarding locate statuses and conflicts.
- Investigate damage incidents and assist with root-cause analysis and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with state one-call laws, and Lumos damage prevention policies.
- Generate reports related to locate performance, damages, ticket trends, and operational KPI’s.
- Escalate unresolved conflicts, missed locates, or risk-related issues to leadership promptly.

- Solid MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Attention to detail.
- Data analysis; identification of concerns and opportunities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
- Team collaboration skills.
- Data tracking and reporting experience preferred.
- Customer service experience required.
- A safety and compliance mindset preferred.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
- High school diploma required. Education in construction management, GIS, utility management, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in utility coordination, telecommunications, construction, or underground infrastructure operations preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
- Understanding of key business operations within Fiber Construction Technologies is highly desirable.
- Working experience managing multiple vendors and stakeholders.
- Experience auditing business processes and GIS/fiber databases to identify data quality concerns, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Knowledge of GIS mapping systems and utility locate software preferred.
- Familiarity with state utility damage prevention regulations.
- Knowledge of 811/One-Call processes and underground utility locating practices.
- Experience working with contract locating vendors.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent sedentary periods using computers, keyboard, and other peripherals.
- Near-constant use of sight, speech, hearing, comprehension, and reasoning.
