The Trade Relations National Account Manager is responsible for developing and executing Limited Distribution Drug (LDD) strategies in partnership with biopharmaceutical manufacturers to expand specialty medication access for Shields' health system partners. Serving as a subject matter expert in specialty pharmacy, manufacturer relations, and drug access, this role works to secure and maintain participation in limited distribution networks (LDNs) and support access to both marketed and pipeline therapies.
Working closely with Trade Relations leadership, this position helps strengthen pharmaceutical manufacturer partnerships, advance market access initiatives, and demonstrate the value of the hospital-based specialty pharmacy model. Through collaboration with health systems, manufacturers, and internal stakeholders, the Trade Relations National Account Manager supports business growth, partner success, and improved patient outcomes.
Job Duties
- Manage relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, health systems, and industry partners to support specialty medication access.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for medication access issues and help resolve access barriers.
- Represent Shields at industry meetings and conferences to strengthen manufacturer partnerships and identify growth opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support manufacturer programs, data initiatives, and access-related infrastructure.
- Lead manufacturer presentations, business reviews, RFIs, RFPs, and drug access submissions.
- Support strategic Trade Relations initiatives, specialty pharmacy growth, and market access efforts.
- Support specialty drug pipeline planning and manufacturer engagement strategies.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer, regulatory, FDA, and REMS requirements.
- Partner with Contract and Network Management teams to support implementation of manufacturer programs.
- Lead special projects that support company growth, client retention, and partner success.
Experience / Education
- PharmD preferred; Bachelor's degree required.
- 3–5 years of experience in specialty pharmacy, trade relations, pharmaceutical account management, manufacturer relations, market access, or healthcare account management preferred.
- Strong relationship-building, account management, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage pharmaceutical manufacturers, health system leaders, and other healthcare stakeholders.
- Knowledge of specialty pharmacy operations, specialty medications, and limited distribution drugs (LDDs) preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Executive presence with experience presenting to senior leaders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
- Commitment to compliance, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach.
Solid computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for communication, documentation, and data management, as well as navigating the internet and web-based platforms. Data entry and computer skills will be evaluated through an assessment as part of the pre-employment process.
