Staff Software Engineer

• Full-stack delivery: Design, build, test, and maintain reliable features across the C#/.NET back end, the TypeScript/Angular front end, and the database.
• Technical leadership: Break larger work into smaller tasks, lead the design of features and services in the team's area, and write short design documents that other engineers can review.
• Healthcare data exchange: Build and maintain integrations and transactions using HL7, FHIR, and X12 EDI, following the company's interoperability and architecture standards.
• Legacy modernization: Contribute to modernizing legacy functionality by moving screens and functions to new services and a new front end, ensuring new behavior matches existing behavior through automated tests, and releasing changes incrementally.
• Code quality: Write clear, tested code, review others' code with specific and respectful feedback, and maintain organized, automated, and easily modifiable code.
• Performance and data: Apply data modeling techniques, review and optimize code and database query performance, and make improvements when issues are identified.
• Security, PHI, and accessibility: Apply secure coding practices, protect protected health information (PHI), follow HIPAA requirements, and ensure user interfaces meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
• Production support: Investigate and resolve defects and incidents in the team’s services, documenting the cause and fix.
• AI-assisted development: Use AI coding tools responsibly, review and test all AI-generated code before merging, and avoid entering PHI or other protected data into unapproved tools.
• Mentorship: Coach less experienced engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions.
• Collaboration: Work with Product Managers, Product Owners, Quality Assurance, and other engineers to clarify requirements, estimate work, and report progress and risks.
• Standards: Follow team and company engineering standards, and propose improvements when standards are impractical.

• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or HHAeXchange leadership.

• Travel up to 10%, including overnight travel.
